Interpol met as students at New York University. Guitarist Daniel Kessler recruited drummer Greg Drudy at school and added classmate Carlos Dengler on bass. Kessler then ran into an acquaintance from Paris, Paul Banks, who was drafted as lead singer. Starting with Interpol's 2002 Matador debut, Turn on the Bright Lights, the brilliance has only increased through Antics and on into the transcendent 2007 translucence of Our Love to Admire.
