Idolatry

I have to admit it. I'm an American Idol fan. Not only that, but some would say that I'm obsessed with the show just because I actually vote for who I want to win and I always pick a favorite. Well, I finally went to my first American Idol tour tonight, and say what you want about the American Idols from this past season, but every last one of those contestants are amazingly talented, even more so than they appeared to be while on the show. They poured their heart and soul into every performance that they took part in, and even though they were visibly exhausted after the show, they still took the time to meet fans and sign autographs in 85 degree weather. While most of them will discover that fame is fleeting, one or two may enjoy a successful recording career that will flourish because they didn't forget about their fans, the people who made them famous. That, to me, is what defines an Idol.
