An upcoming TV Movie for the Disney Channel, "Camp Rock" is about a girl named Mitchie Torres who has a strong drive to be a pop singer. She discovers an opportunity for a prestigious music camp, but her family does not have enough money.
Her mother gets a job at the camp as the cook, and Mitchie can attend the camp, as long as she helps out with kitchen duties. So Mitchie leads a double life as camper in the popular clique at the camp, and the cook's daughter.
She is then found out, and put on probation from camp activities.
One of the camp leaders, celebrity and lead singer of Connect Three, Shane Gray (played by Joe Jonas) overhears Mitchie singing, but does not see her, he falls in love with the voice and sets out to find the girl behind the beautiful voice.
Meanwhile, Mitchie must learn to confront her fears and shine in the spotlight as her true self.
I see two similar plotlines here:
In Hilary Duff's "Raise Your Voice", Hilary Duff stars as Terri Fletcher, a small-town girl with a powerful voice and drive to be a pop star. She badly wants to attend a prestigious music camp program, and recieves a scholarship to the camp, but somehow escapes to the camp despite her father's wishes. There she finds true love in a brooding British musician, and her true self.
However, a handsome "prince/celebrity" falls in love with an ordinary girl, and sets out to find her. Sounds like the classic Cinderella, eh?
So tell me, which do you think "Camp Rock" is more eerily similar to?

Only three categories into this award process, we’ve come to notice a few things: You all REALLY hate Paris Hilton, Avril Lavigne, and Hannah Montana. Maybe being a movie star and front man for 30 Seconds to Mars is taking its toll on Jared Leto, or maybe being 35 years old is catching up with him. Either way, karaoke has become a hazard for the singing sensation. Leto claims that he was on the brink of karaoke humiliation -- having chosen to perform a song that he didn't know the words to -- when he was pulled back from the abyss by Courtney Love, who jumped on stage and helped him through the tune. Bypassing the queasy question of what it must feel like to be in such a vulnerable state that Courtney Love is in a position to save you, what song could Courtney know that Jared wouldn't?
There are more actors turned musicians then you probably realize. While some are able to pull it off and actually become successful with their music, others fall flat and become the butt of many jokes. Here are some of the awful ones that come to mind. Who will you crown the "worst"?

Goody-two-shoes singer/actress was listening to the track with the producer. Hilary liked it (????????) and kept asking/demanding the producer gave her the song. Hilary got her way, but Heidi insists she gave the song.

The good girl past of Hilary Duff is being left behind in a cloud of underwear speculation. The Internet is awash with photos that are said to depict no-pantie up-skirt shots of Hilary on-stage in both Anaheim, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada. Does this mean that Joel Madden made the right choice in picking the mother of his child? Is Hilary Duff more of a sleaze than Nicole Richie?
