Hey Best Friend.
Hey best friend, I got a story to tell you
Don't worry, it's short and sweet
In middle school, I met this girl
She was bright, hilarious, pretty, intelligent
Everyone loved her
Sleepovers, concerts, Oreo eating contests
Long walks; not knowing or caring where we were going
As long as we were together
Hey best friend, does this story sound familiar?
All those hours we spent talking about high school
Promising each other that peer pressure and new people wouldn't change us
Well, it was such a waste of time
Summer going into high school
You met new people and changed
That one night
Dark, chilly, haunting
You were fighting a lot with your parents
And started smoking, drinking, cutting
Experimenting with drugs I can't even pronounce
I wanted to help, but you wouldn't let me
Confused, I didn't know what to do
I don't know who you've become
Everything is different
No more sleepovers, concerts, Oreo eating contest
You've become someone we promised each other we wouldn't become
I wish I could go back to that one night
Change everything that happened
And help you stop smoking, drinking, cutting
Do you?
Or are you happy with the person you've become?
I'll never know.
Hey best friend, I miss you.
This is a poem I wrote for an English assingment. I know it sucks. Haha. Lately, I've been having some problems with a friend. I have lost friends to drugs and drinking. Okay, well they aren't dead, but I don't talk to them anymore. They just do things now that I thought they would never do. This one girl I knew used to be like a genius. Well, she's basically an idiot now from all the drugs she's experimented with. She used to be really pretty too. Her eyes are now always blood shot and she has huge dark circles under her eyes. Everytime I walk past her, she reeks of pot. NASTY. I honestly don't see what's so exciting about drinking and smoking. It doesn't make you "cool". It's gross and smells bad. It will make you do things you'll regret. It's one thing to do all that stuff, but you are seriously an idiot if you post pictures of yourself drinking and doing drugs on facebook and myspace. Once again, it doesn't make you look "cool" or "popular". No one cares how many cans of beer you drank or the number of bowls you smoked. You know what's also a turn off? When you find out your favorite band member/musician smokes. Um, hello. It's bad for your voice!
Anyway, what do you think of the poem? Good? Bad?
Have you lost friends to drinking/drugs?

FIRSTLY it will kill me practially instantly because of my asthma.
SECONDLY there is nothing you can do (not you, just people in general haha) to make me think that it's worth it.
Because it isn't.
I think you are right in what you've said.
GO JENNY.
:)
I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE when my favorite band members smoke.
I hate it.
Wanna know how I met Pimpshaw and Jersey from Hey Monday?
Well that's another story for another time.
*coughsmokingbreakcough*
:(
Yeah, I know a lot of people who do drugs.
ACTUALLY, the first concert I ever went to was in Madison Square Garden in New York and there were some people close by who were smoking pot and it just smelled so bad!
The poem is amazing by the way :)
Well, i went to a Rod Stewart concert when i was at my aunts house in colorado over the summmer,
and people were smoking pot and it was the first time i had ever smellled, i have to say it's much worse that i thought.
many people at my school do it, and i don't see the point to it.
"Hey hey guys! Let's smoke and die faster!"
is that really what people want?!?!?
God put us here to live our FULL lives, and not kill it by smoking or doing drugs or whatever.
what happened to all of those classes that we took, informing us about the risks about these?
was it all a waste?
okay, i'm done now. (:
Thats too bad.
I liked the poem though.
and im still friends with them, even if they do do drugs,
i respect their choices and they respect mine (:
I hope things work out better!
At the end of August, I hung out with my old group of friends for the last time before moving six hours away for college. Only three of there didn't smoke pot or drink heavily. It was a really strange experience. Like... they used to be my best friends, and once we split up, that's what happened. Also, the final straw to my last relationship was when I went to talk to him one night, and he didn't want to talk because he was stoned. That was reeaaaaal great.
I like to remember what happens, so I don't drink.
I like to take even breaths, so I don't smoke.
It sucks when you find out that your favourite band members smokes and stuff. It's a personal decision but I'm pretty sure they are aware of what they are doing. As for friends, one of my friends smoke but she never forces me to do anything. She actually tells me NOT to smoke. haha.
It's great! :)
and when I saw a picture of Jared Monaco,
holding what looked like a cigarette,
it made me sad lol
I love Jared, and I know it's his life and everything,
but I don't want to see my favorite guy smoke! :)
I know, the other day I was having lunch outside with my friend, and these two guys next to us were smoking, and they got caught. lmao! Losers that's what they get! :)
because, the, how do i say it, the circle of people i hang out with, they smoke drink, and think they are cool, i don't know if they use drugs, thing i don't wanna know.
i don't do it because, it turns you into something you are not, and, because we are girls, it looks nasty when a girl is smoking or holding a beer can.
and, because, i love singing, that would TOTALLY ruin my voice.
i hope you can help your friend, i have lost friends, but for most superflual stuff that sucks. so do the impossible to make some sense enter to her head
As far as I know, none of my friends do any of that stuff. We're the losers who make fun of those people :) But who knows if any of us are going to change. I'm seeing one of my friends change though, not drugs or anything, but I don't like her personality as much as I did. She's trying to become popular now, and it seems like she's slowly ditching me. She texts literally all the time, and I HATE it when people text in front of me and pretend like they're not even doing it. But it's better than drugs.
I lost my Nana a year ago, and she smoked. She was 84 and had been smoking since she was 15, and it's so sad to think that she could have lived so much longer had she never smoked. (sorry bout the long comment ha)
I can completely relate to this because I have a friend exactly like this. It's such a shitty thing to go through but you just gotta realize that we're the ones doing the right thing. Our friend(s) are the ones that are making the wrong choice and someday they'll learn. They'll realize that they once had a great friend like you and me. They'll look back and realize what idiots they were.
I completely agree. I hate when people say "DUDE I GOT SO DRUNK LAST NIGHT. I HAD 20 SHOTS." It's like. uhmmm no you'd be almost dead if you had 20 freaking shots. People just annoy me when they say shit like that.
Sorry, I'm ramballing!
And yeah, i agree with everyone. Not talking to people like that is always the best thing to do. Its their own fault really i guess.
I really liked the poem, coz i could totally relate.
Woah, major long spamming comment....I'll stop now :)
