crappy haiku movie review of the week - indiana jones and the temple of doom

as we all know, there's no shortage of movie review sites out there on the web. but who among us hasn't longed for movie reviews in the form of really crappily done japanese poetry? i know i sure have!

so once a week, i'll be dedicating a journal entry to a movie review in the form of a really crappy haiku.

no matter what, the star of this week's movie always manages to find himself in an amazing adventure. when your name is indiana jones, even the most mundane activities can turn into action-packed blockbusters, and with the movie industry struggling to compete with other forms of entertainment, expect them to take full advantage of this fact, as evidenced by the upcoming trilogy of indiana jones films based on a typical day in indy's life:

indiana jones and the overdue library book of terror - tagline: indy knew all about the dewey decimal system...but he wasn't ready for the dewey DEATH system!

indiana jones and the department of motor vehicles (and ninjas) - tagline: the good news is that the dmv is a lot faster now. the bad news is, it's full of ninjas!

indiana jones and the burritos of chaos - tagline: all indy wanted was a little late night snack...but now he has to deal with weapons of GAS destruction!

- it's indiana jones and the temple of doom!

indiana jones and the temple of doom

indiana's back

fighting these crazy bastards

who eat monkey brains

the end

p.s. feel free to hit me up with any suggestions, and you might just get to see one of your favorite movies summed up in a really crappy haiku...

crappy haiku movie review of the week - raiders of the lost ark

as we all know, there's no shortage of movie review sites out there on the web. but who among us hasn't longed for movie reviews in the form of really crappily done japanese poetry? i know i sure have!

so once a week, i'll be dedicating a journal entry to a movie review in the form of a really crappy haiku.

this week's movie taught us that you should always, always, always wear your safety goggles when opening the ark of the covenant. did you know that over 3,000 nazis are injured every year in ark of the covenant-related injuries in the united states alone? don't let yourself become a statistic. wear your safety goggles. - it's raiders of the lost ark!

raiders of the lost ark

a hat-wearing guy

battles nazis fearlessly

but he's scared of snakes

the end

Iron Man and Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese and John Williams

I saw Iron Man yesterday. It kicked ass.

Speaking of awesome movies, I can't wait to see Indy 4 later this month.

But tonight, I'm seeing Martin Scorsese, Stevin Speilberg, and John Williams at the Kennedy Center for the Annual Spring Gala. I hope I meet one of them....

And I don't embaress myself.

'INDY' FEVER RISING

With only 34 days left to the opening of "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," my level of excitement and anticipation can only be compared as second to the way I felt in the weeks leading up to the release of "Star Wars: Episode I- The Phantom Menace" back in 1999. It's that mix of nostalgia and the familiarity with the characters that makes this return to the big screen almost 20 years after the last 'Indiana Jones' adventure that makes this return that much sweeter and the anticipation off the charts.

Are you excited about 'Indy's' return?

You have your sunset, and conditions are favorable :)

Well, helloooo buzznet journal! I haven't typed for you in quite some time. Like my title reads, (quoting my favorite book growing up, La Petit Prince :D) I have my very own sunset (figuratively, but what exactly does a sunset represent for me? And for you? Inquiring minds want to know! Like mine!) meaning...I am finally making my life my own. I am leaving the house I've lived in for most of my life, I am learning things by myself since I could not attend my college classes anymore (family drama tends to take away your concentration and eagerness to learn more about Van Gogh and his appetite for lead-based paints and mercury, too I think! Egads!) But I could not thank the Lord I have a healthy beautiful relationship with (religion is a crutch, I have a relationship.) for helping me through all of this. Trust me, if I didn't have something bigger than my little self to believe in, I would have thrown in the proverbial towel of life already. Things are still very rough, but all of my friends that have truly supported and cared for me are telling me I'm carrying my parents' problems and I need to stop and be a little selfish in order to have a life of my own. So I am taking their advice, and I feel...free. Maybe it's a little cliche, but I am getting a tiny blue bird on my shoulder blade after all of this (tattoo!!!) and I am incredibly excited. Something noone would guess I'd ever have is a tattoo, I mean, I don't even have my ears pierced, haha, so a tattoo??

Anyway, enough about me. Next Saturday I'm going to a concert, Phil Wickham and Starfield? Everyone raves about Mr. Wickham so I wanted to see what the 'hubbub' was all about and I'm sure I'll love it. I love outdoor spring concerts. Hope and pray for sunshine! :D I cannot wait for the weather to continue to warm up. I soak up the sun like the soil soaks up the rain. Plus I cannot wait to wash my hair in warm downpours. That is the best my hair will ever look, after washing it in the rain. I SWEAR to you it is good. Unless you're somewhere with acid rain...then I reccommend you take showers inside...your...shower...>>.

Working on my art again. Sketching birds, Beatles, strawberries, little sailboats, trees, peaches and me flying on a book. I promise you I don't do drugs. Only incredibly sugary coffee, late night diner runs with my lovely friend Jenny, orange tea, cupcakes and strawberries rolled in sugar. I'm surprised I don't have cavities. Brush your teeth, kids! I am starving for a bacon omelette from a diner right now...Oh! I saw 21. Oh Jim Sturgess, why must you hide that lovely accent? Anyhow, I'm definitely looking forward to Indiana Jones. HARRISON FORD DOES NOT AGE. THE GRAY HAIRS ARE A LIE. Not really. I almost wept (not really haha) when my sister asked (while she watched Nickelodeon's Kid Choice Awards) who Harrison Ford was.

It's two in the morning and I have to clean the kitchen before I dare to sleep. Sweet dreams, all!

Oh, and I very much love the new Panic album. Pretty.Odd. Perfect for spring, I tell you. Perfect. Besides this band Owen someone introduced me to. And that mix Benny Benassi made of San Fransisco Dreaming.

Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards Winners and Post-party pics

This past Saturday UCLA's Pauley Pavilion played host to this year's 'slime-a-licious' Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards hosted by Jack Black. The rumblings and screams coming from the doors of the 12,000-seater stadium were deafening! I was on campus to attend the after-party with the niece and nephew. (Check out some pics from of the post-party here! Or even better, check out my two clips from the post party below)

For more on the night's big winners, read on.

Pete Wentz talks about "BLEEPing Ben Affleck" video

The Jimmy Kimmel spoof video, "BLEEPing Ben Affleck" (see here if you haven't yet) is not only hilarious and chock full o' stars (Brad Pitt, Harrison Ford, Cameron Diaz, Joan Jett, Macy Gray, Robin Williams, Don Cheadle, Pete Wentz, Perry Farrell, Benji and Joel Madden, Lance Bass, Huey Lewis, Josh Groban, McLovin, Christina Applegate, Rebecca Romijn, and Dominic Monaghan) but was a blast to be a part of, too.

As Pete Wentz told MTV News on Tuesday...

"Pretty much everyone there was a riot — egos all checked at the door for the most part. Dominic [Monaghan] and I would pretty much bug Harrison Ford the whole time. Every time he would put the headphones on, we would be like, 'Tell us about "Indy 4," ' and he'd be like, 'What?' And then we'd say, 'Never mind.' I can't believe he got Huey [Lewis] on it. Jimmy's a funny guy, and I have to admit the Affleck idea is pretty insane. Besides, who would [turn] down the chance to do some homoerotic song that has Brad Pitt in it?"

Lucky bastards. Was I the only one who lurched at the screen and wailed "CHARLIE!" when Dominic Monaghan and Pete stepped up to the mic? If they sang "You Are Everybody" I would've shed a tear...

New 'Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull' poster!

Man, an exciting day in movie developments!!!

IndianaJones.com has released the first (of probably many) promotional posters for the movie. Drew Struzan drew up the poster and it looks much like a lot of the original ones did.

Head on over to FirstShowing to see their comparison to the old teaser posters from past Indiana Jones movies.
