Buzznet Halloween 2009: Thrill the World

Earlier this year, as I'm sure you all are aware, pop music lost a legend. Michael Jackson's passing marked the loss of one of the most innovated men in show business.

As you know, each year in October, I do something Halloween related. And this year is no exception. But this year, there's more to it than just a poll or a user pic change, this year I want to do something in tribute to one of Michael's most iconic moments and one of the best Halloween songs ever released.

"Thriller."

I'm sure you've seen the video. And I'm sure you know that during the video there is an extended dance sequence. Known as simply "The Thriller Dance," it's become a major part of pop culture and has been used in music videos by groups such as The Backstreet Boys and The Gorillaz.

It's even reached beyond just music videos. The dance has become an extremely recognizable part of our culture.

It has been parodied by South Park.

And has been referenced by Bollywood.

A re-enactment of the video was performed by inmates at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, Cebu, Philippines!

And...well...then there's this.

So this year, Buzznet, your Halloween Challenge is to pay homage to Thriller. I'd like everyone who can to upload a video showing themselves and/or their friends performing the Thriller dance. You don't have to do the whole thing, just one sequence will be enough. And get creative! Just don't do anything illegal. Don't tape anywhere you shouldn't be taping, if you're asked to leave, please do so. Neither Buzznet nor myself will be liable if you get in trouble for something.

Tag your entries with Thriller09. I'm planning to try and feature some of my favorites each week throughout the month.

Don't know the dance? Don't worry, neither do I, yet. But Thrill the World has an entire series of instrucational videos online to help you easily learn it.

This is actually a project I tried to start last year(if this post looks a bit familiar, that's why...I used a lot of the same videos I did last year), but didn't post in time. And this year, well, I feel like it's a hell of a lot more fitting.
