Members of The Format, Steel Train Form Super Group; Album and Tour Already Planned
Ever since indie-rockers, The Format, went on hiatus earlier this year, fans have been wondering if they'd ever hear new music from singer Nate Ruess again. The question has finally been answered in the form of a new project called fun.

The brand new rock band (who currently only have one demo on their MySpace page) is made up of Ruess, former Anathallo singer/keyboardist Andrew Dost and Steel Train singer/guitarist Jack Antonoff. According to CMJ, the band's MySpace page, the trio have already already signed with Nettwerk Music Group and will release their debut record in February of 2009, with the first single coming out in November and a tour with Jack's Mannequin slated to begin on November 8.
"So here I am now, months of silence and months of preparation, finally able to proudly introduce you to what has so gratefully been my life for the past seven months. I'm not going to lie, I'm nervous, and despite how much fun (ha!) I'm having there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about all of my friends in The Format and the wonderful job we did for the last seven years. But things change and we have to move forward, I just never knew that I would be able to move this forward this fast. I'm dying to get back on stage and perform, I'm dying for you to hear what I get to hear. And I am so thankful for all of the support I've received from you guys over the last seven years and over the last seven months. So I really want this new band to be a celebration of the things we love and what it takes to accomplish and keep them. I can't wait to keep doing this with Jack and Andrew and I am so fortunate to hopefully be a part of you, the listeners, lives. I'm not going anywhere. Why should you?," Ruess stated in a lengthy blog on the band's MySpace page.
The Format released their second full-length, Dog Problems, in 2006 and Steel Train released their second full-length, Trampoline, in 2007.
What are you expectations for fun? Do you think the band has the potential to be as big as their counterparts? Discuss in the comments.

And overwhelmed.

we're gonna get our socks rocked off!
but id rather just have the format back together :/
I agree.
But we know that's not gonna happen.
=/
So we might as well respect their decision to split up and enjoy what's coming.
i don't think it has any potential to be sacreligious, it's going to be worth it. Nate and the boys are going to be turning out amazing songs, just you wait and see.
