April 17, 2009Dear Superstar, Filter and PAPA ROACH!Yeah i saw them bands last night with two friends =] It was awesome, apart from loosing L =[ stypid people crushing us and shoving past next time we're super glueing ourselves together!! Dear Superstar started the show off, they were okay and relly hyped up, but i'm sure the singer was gay especially for his guitarist haha and he had a really long tongue. He also tried croud surfing where i was standing which wasn't the best idea as it was mostly girls where i was standing, he hit me in the nose which i wasn't happy about, but then he fell on the floor which i found funny and not surprising as no guys were holding him up it was only girls.
Filter was on after Dear Superstar and reminded me a bit of U2, i think it was the sun glasses and the jacket and the way he moved, he didn't do any crowd surfing though!! They were okay a bit calmer than Dear Superstar and had a slightly more techno sound and i like one of the many guitars the guitarst had it was turquoise and the same colour as my prom dress hahaha. But i liked them because they kept telling us we were beautiful and amazing.
THEN IT WAS PAPA ROACH!!!!! Jerry Tobin and Tony came on and started the show off with Days Of War then Coby like the crazy motherfucker he is came running on and started off with Change or Die. Coby was running around the stage everwhere and the whole crowd went crazy and everyone surged foreward and i was crushed and couldn't breathe but then C got cut away from L by this dick tring to run through them which spilt them up =[ so we escaped a few rows back and we we able to breathe. It was an awesome show Coby running around everywhere and 'Shitney Spears, Paris Hilton and Twatty Spice' as Coby called them of course before and after singing Hollywood Whore. Setlist was: Days of war change or die Broken Home To be loved... Getting away with murder The world around you Forever Lifeline Crash Hollywood Whore Time is running out She loves me not Alive ('N out of control) Had enough Dead cell Between angels and insects Then they went of and made us wait for about five minutes before coming back on and fucking the crowd up. Encore: Scars I almost told you that i loved you (He said he thinks it would be a good idea to make a video for this song 'i wonder if i could convince my wife to make a porno' ¬_¬ Last resort (that was awesome live and stole the drum sticks and attempted playing aka smashing them as hard as he could)

May 12, 2008Filter's Richard Patrick and His Funky Fetish: Behind Closed Doors
Filter gained mainstream success in 1995 with the release of the industrial rock single "Hey Man, Nice Shot." Four years later, the band received even more attention for its ballad "Take My Picture," which is still heard frequently on rock radio. After taking a break in 2005, singer Richard Patrick formed a new band called Army of Anyone with Robert and Dean DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots fame.
Army of Anyone called in quits in 2007 and after Filter reunited, Patrick refocused his attention on their fourth record, Anthems for the Damned, which hit stores last week. Buzznet caught up with Patrick to get to know the man behind the Anthems. Behold Patrick's nerdy fetish, worst job experience, silly nicknames and why he should never go skiing again ... ![]() Buzznet: Do you have a morning bathroom routine? If so, what does it entail? Richard Patrick: In the morning I do what I call the three S's ... sh--, shower and shave. Buzznet: Who was your first kiss? Details ... How old were you? Where were you? Patrick: I kissed a girl named Amanda when I was in the sixth grade. Buzznet: What do you have hanging on your walls in your bedroom? Posters? Artwork? Patrick: Hanging in my bedroom, I have a large mirror and a photograph I took of the ocean in Lanai, Hawaii when I was on my honeymoon. Buzznet: Do you have any fetishes? Any pet peeves? Patrick: I'm obsessed with collecting Star Wars prop replicas. Buzznet: What is the first quality you look for in the opposite sex? Patrick: I go for the eyes and face. I like bright eyes and a happy, smiling face. Buzznet: What do you wear to sleep at night? Patrick: Underwear. Buzznet: Do you have a nickname? Patrick: As a child, my mom called me Spider Monkey. In Nine Inch Nails, my name was Piggy. In the early part of Filter, they use to call me Chimpy Ding Dong — C double D for short. Now, they call me the supreme overlord ... nah, just kidding. Buzznet: What was your first job? What was your worst job? Patrick: My first job was being a caddy. My worst job was working at a deli. I quit when the guy next to me was chopping off a head of lettuce in the slicer and he sliced all of his fingers off. Buzznet: If you could be in the Summer Olympics which sport would you compete in? Any why? Patrick: Something involving guns. Enough said! Buzznet: What song do you know every word to, but are totally embarrassed to admit? Patrick: There's nothing that I sing that I'm ashamed of. Buzznet: Which era do you most wish you lived in and why? Patrick: I would like to live sometime in the future when we don't kill each other, destroy the planet and we've stopped fu--ing over the animals. Buzznet: Do you have any scars? If so what happened? If not, name one imperfection on your body? Patrick: I have a six-inch scar on my left elbow, which I received in a skiing accident in 1993. I was on a quadruple black diamond run at a resort in Colorado. I had just broken the sound barrier when I crashed into what appeared to be a large white biped, presumably the abominable snowman, like the one in [the film] The Empire Strikes Back. It took a huge gash out of my elbow and I went unconscious. I woke up in the snow with a bandage on my arm fashioned out of pinecones and bunny fur, obviously made by a creature with no thumbs. Yes, the abominable snowman had put me back together and saved my guitar playing hand. May porcupines come flying out of my ass if this isn't true. Buzznet: If we gave you sourdough bread and you could put anything on your sandwich what would it be? Patrick: Prosciutto. Buzznet: When you hear the word “oatmeal” what is the very first thing that comes to your mind? Patrick: Oatmeal.

April 29, 2008Edgefest 17So I went to this little gathering of bands and music fans called....Edgefest (Sorry didn't make it to Coachella :( )! To be perfectly honest, when they announced the line up for this year I was kind of disappointed. I felt that last years line up was better, more exciting. But I was going to go regardless, it is the one event that I get to see my dear friend Bryan and we hang out and act like fools all day (We kind of make a whole weekend event out it), so it was going to be fun, NO MATTER WHAT!!! The first band that I settled in to watch would be Miser. The only thing that I have heard of thiers would be thier Zombie cover and I was pretty anxious to kind of check them out. They were pretty damn good. Not at all what I would've expected after just hearing "Zombie". They are a local band trying to make it big, and they were the perfect choice to open up the mainstage! I am looking forward to thier CD that will drop sometime in June. Next was probably (for me anyway) the sentimental favorite of the day, FILTER!!!! OMG! Those boys did a great job, they played a couple of new songs, one of which was Soldier of Misfortune, not a bad little tune, check it out. They also did "Hey Man Nice Shot", which you know the crowd went wild for. During "Take A Picture" a guy in the area that had been smoking weed started to puke (Seriously is was a little afternoon and this guy was already smashed) and people took his picture. While I was annoyed at this dude for puking I thought it ironic that this should happen and during the song! Over all, I was SUPER stoked to see these guys, one of the bands that I have listened to for years and have never seen, and they were awesome!!! After Filter I travelled over to the mainstage to check out Sick Puppies! These guys were great! PLUS they have a female bass player. AND SHE WAS HOT! I mean pretty AND great guitar playing skills! I'm always happy when there is a female out there representing and holding her own! The music was good, I hadn't realized how much of thier stuff that I've heard before. The best part of their show would have to be when they did an AMAZING rendition of Destiny Child's "Say My Name" I was in stitches, from laughing, the lead singer was hilarious! I've never liked that song until that moment! After thier set I walked over to a fence and saw the lead singer guy (I don't know his name) walking by and I managed to get a handshake, so I thought that was pretty cool! :) Then I travelled back over to the mainstage, I was trying to meet up with some other buzznetters Vanessa and Gina, so I went over there to see if I could find them, AND I DID!!! I was SUPER excited to meet them, Vanessa was cool as hell, and I'm sure Gina was too, but I didn't really get to talk to her, she seem SUPER nice though. (I wish I could've spent more time with them, but I wasn't able to, thats for a whole other journal about how I almost killed the aformentioned BFF Bryan) So I found them and then settled in to watch the rest of Chevelles set. Chevelle is a band that I don't hate, but I don't love either, I dig some of their songs quite a bit, and then other ones I really could do without. Their set was pretty good though, it was laced with all their singles, so the "sing-along-ability" of their set was pretty high! For me this band was the suprise of the day, because I didn't much expect anything out of them, but I did enjoy their set. After Chevelle Vanessa and I ran over to catch Atreyu, we had both seen them on the Taste Of Chaos tour and were pretty anxious to see them again! WE WERE NOT DISSAPOINTED!!! I think that is the biggest crowd I've ever seen for a second stage band. It got pretty wild in there too, rumors going around that the mosh pit during the set got pretty crazy. I wasn't any where near that, so I was able to enjoy the whole show. And it was great! They did their tribute to the cowbell (WIN!) and also broke out a little "The stars at night, are big and bright *clap, clap, clap, clap* Deep in the HEART OF TEXAS" (That always wins over the crowds in Texas I noticed :D) The whole day had been cloudy and chilly and then literally as soon as Atreyu started playing the clouds broke, sun came out and Alex took his shirt off. It was like God was giving me a little gift! Good stuff!!! :) Next was Seether....Yeah this is like the 3rd time I've seen them, I kind of feel about them, how I feel about Chevelle, it's not a band I love, not a band I hate. They have some good songs, but mostly thier latest single "Fake It" drives me to the brink of homicide, I hate that song so much. So we went back over to the mainstage and watched Seether, it wasn't a memorable performance really, they played some good stuff. THEN THEY PLAY "FAKE IT" UGH! As soon as they started playing it the crowd went wild, and in my head I'm thinking "REALLY?" But I'm not a music snob and I try to be as much "Live and Let Live" as I can, everyone has different tastes in music and if they like that annoying song, they good for them. After Seether Blue October came out. This is the band that I was REALLY waiting to see. I LOVE Blue October, this was my 4th time seeing them...it wasn't their best show I've ever seen unfortunately. I still enjoyed their set, but they just seemed kind of off to me, I don't know why, and the set list left a little to be desired, they sang "Hate Me", "Into the Ocean", "She's My Ride Home", "Calling You" and some more. I didn't NOT like their set, but I've just seen better out of them. So I was a LEETLE disappointed, but still happy that I got to see them! The last band that I watched was My Chemical Romance. Before they came out I had this brilliant idea that I would get as close as possible to the stage so that I could take some awesome pics to share with everyone...BAD IDEA! The crowd was in fine form, and once MCR came out it just got worse, at one point a girl came flying through the air landed on top of me and I lost my footing and landed flat on my ass and a little dazed! At that point I decided to end my kamikaze picture taking mission and get the fuck out while I was still alive. I didn't get any good pics of the band (which dissapointed me), but I'm alive (which makes up for crappy pics). I think that overall I enjoyed the show more once I got out of the mob than if I would've stayed. MCR came out they were wearing letter jackets or something, Mikey Way was wearing a shirt that said "Mikey Fucking Way" which I thought was hilarious. They were selling them there I totally should've gotten one, oh well. I think that the MCR set was DEF the most lively I'd see all day, they got the crowd all excited and screaming and going crazy! They played all the good stuff and what pleased me the most was they closed with "Helena" that has been my fave song of thiers for years it seems. The whole show I kept telling my friend "I REALLY hope they play Helena" and they kept not playing it, I was SSSOOO sad, but then they closed with it, I went friggin INSANE!!! So that was pretty much the day for me. It was exhausting, it always is! But I had a great time, with some good friends and listening to awesome music. What more can a girl ask for! CK
