Fergie Through the Years

The Black Eyed Peas' new album The E.N.D. drops today and I’ve been thinking a lot about Fergie. I don’t know what to make of her. Whether it comes to her stellar moves or catchy beats, nobody can deny she's made quite a name for herself, but she’s certainly had her darker moments. Despite setbacks, however, she’s become the poster child of a phoenix rising from the flames. Case in point? THE E.N.D.'s first single "Boom Boom Pow" has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for nine consecutive weeks and her solo album The Dutchess boasted five Billboard Hot 100 top five singles. And did I mention her husband is hot? Let’s take a look at Fergie’s highest highs and lowest lows.

HIGH: THE EARLY YEARS

Born Stacy Ann Ferguson, Fergie got her start acting and performing musical numbers for the TV show Kids Incorporated. While shooting the show, she retained straight A's in school and was a cheerleader and spelling bee champ.

HIGH->LOW: THE GIRL GROUP

Fergie formed the girl group Wild Orchid which came to include Kids Incorporated co-star Renee Sandstrom and Stefanie Ridel. The band had relative success and even toured with NSYNC. Record execs, however, refused to release their third album.

LOW: THE DRUG YEARS

In light of the record label's refusal, Fergie left Wild Orchid and began a downward spiral into crystal meth addiction. Says Fergie: "I remember thinking somebody was inside of it, going to come and get me, so I was talking to the person who was crawling in the hamper."

HIGH: THE BLACK EYED PEAS

Fergie kicked her meth habit and joined the pre-existing band The Black Eyed Peas where she sang on such tracks as "Don't Phunk with my Heart" and "My Humps."

LOW: PUBLIC PEEING

On tour with the Black Eyed Peas in San Diego, Fergie forgot to use the restroom before taking the stage.

HIGH: THE ROMANCE

Fergie met husband Josh Duhamel when she guest-starred with The Black Eyed Peas on his show Las Vegas in 2004. The two married January, 2009.

HIGH: THE SOLO ALBUM

The Dutchess was a smash success, with hits like "London Bridge" and "Glamorous." Blender Magazine named her the woman of the year in 2007.

HIGH: THE NEW CD

The E.N.D. (which stands for The Energy Never Dies) already has a hit single.

So there you have it--Fergie through the years. At the moment, Fergie seems to be on top of the world, but what's next? Will there be more lows or will Fergie continue her winning streak?
