Mr Einstein really was a genius
Due to the fact that I feel no motivation to work on all of the things I need to do today, I find myself prowling the internet for interesting subject matter to feed my brain.
I made the decision to become vegetarian. I voiced as much about 3 weeks ago now. Sure, I have been chided about it by several narrow minded people and by those who simply do not understand. A small price to pay. I am a big girl and I can handle it.
While prowling the surfaces of many areas of what is the World Wide Web, I happened upon a specific person's myspace page. Usually I would not have spent more than 30 seconds on this particular site because this person is the typical person trying to become a celebrity from notariety on the internet. To everyone their own. I will not be judging anyone for this. What I happened upon was a quote. It was: "Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances of survival for life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet" Albert Einstein Wow, that Mr Einstein sure was a genius wasn't he? I actually had no idea he was vegetarian. I have learned something new today.
I will not be stepping onto a soapbox at this time. I only wish to state a few of the feelings I experienced while reading some of the person's views on being vegan/vegetarian. For the most part, I agree with this person. Even though he is a great deal younger than me, he made some extrememly good points that were very true.
One of the points I did not agree with is that being a vegan/vegetarian automatically makes you healthy. He also states that not eating meat will make you thin. I can not disagree more. I am now a believer in the vegetarian way of life, but I feel that you have to make your own choices to be healthy and at your target weight for your body. Point in fact here is: McDonald's french fries are considered vegetarian. Am I wrong? It is simply a potato fried in vegetable oil. They are extrememly unhelathy and one of the staples in my diet, I will admit. I am attempting to make my transition to a meatless diet as easy as I can for myself. I need it to be something I don't even think about when I consider my next meal anymore. It will just come naturally. Until it has became a thoughtless feat for me, I will continue to do what works for me. After I reach this point, then I will work with everything in my power to attempt to make myself healthier. That is my ultimate goal. I feel this person who is trying/wanting to be a makeshift icon needs to be a little more considerate of people's feelings who do not fit the perfect mold. I will mention no names for I am one who prefers to choose my battles and this is one I dare not fight. This is simply my point of view.
Additionally, there were some links on this site that take you to some very disturbing videos. I tried my damndest to watch as much of them as I could. Seeing this only reiterates my reasons for making the choice I did. I have no desire to try to bring anyone who remains carnivorous/omnivorous to my side of the fence. I do think that if anyone who eats flesh would take 15 mintues of their time to view just a small portion of any of these vidoes they would be forced to question their ways. These slaughter houses are certainly inhumane. Torturous is more the word I feel. I felt such a rush of emotion when these horrific things were forced into my face that it is nearly undescribable. I felt rage, anger, sickness, weakness~because I am only one person and can not take back what has already happened and sadness just to name a few.
I am so thoroughly glad that I have made the decision that I have. I feel extremely proud of myself to have made it this far again. This time it will not change. I have witnessed everything I needed to prevent the going back ever again on the internet today. Viva la www. (until your child discovers Jenna Jameson/Ron Jeremy or the likes of them that is...)
