Kaminari Taiko
Houston's very own group dedicated to the art of Japanese drumming. Taiko is the Japanese word for drum. Kaminari is the Japanese word for thunder, thus Kaminari Taiko = thunderous drum. They perform several times a year with their grand concert happening around Sept each year. Easily one of my fave things about the arts in Houston!
One of my photography friends is really good friends with the owner of the group. He was able to get me and my friend Gwen "front of stage" and also "stage" access during the concert. Out of the over 10,000 people who attended the concert, only Gwen and I were allowed to be up front and on stage!
