They went through Aosta and then, from Switzerland, came screaming down into Domodossola; rahter nerve-wracking, but no-one was hurt. In 1986 Jack and I took a train from Switzerland, through the Alps, to Milan, via Domodossola, Lago Maggiore, etc. Just gorgeous. Did you want to "do" the Giro for Cofidis? We follow it every year.
