Sydney's top ten CDs you need

I was trying to think of some funny shit to say about each one but I got nothin. . .

10. Wall of People - Monty Are I

It's just a pretty good all around Cd, by an amazing band that will melt your face off.

9. Futures - Jimmy Eat World

Pretty much just an amazing pop band that writes good decent lyrics that mean something. (thank you Kevin for pointing this out)

8. Make Yourself - Incubus

Uh, Incubus just all around pretty amazing...Drive is just an amazing song, as is Pardon Me. But, really dude, just an amazing CD.

7. Warning - Green Day

Twas tough to pick one of the gabillion Green Day CD's so I just you know stuck with the one I liked the best, Although everyone will probably bitch and say Dookie is better...to those. FU I like this one.

6. Alkaline Trio - Alkaline Trio

Pretty much anything by Matt Skiba is going to turn out spectacular

5. Black Holes and Revelations - Muse

I don't know one person who does not like Muse...Their lights are spectacular.

4. Instant Karma - Various

Amazing for just about every reason. Awesome bands, playing awesome songs, for an awesome cause. Go buy it....

3. A Rush of Blood to the Head - Coldplay

I will always love Coldplay, no matter what. And God put a smile upon your face is just an amazing song.

2. North - Something Corporate

Leaving Through the Window is a pretty awesome cd, but North has I think more meaningful lyrics and better melodies. Not that I don't love Leaving Through the Window. I just like North better. I like pretty much anything by Andrew.

1. Sticks and Stones - New Found Glory

You just can't go wrong with this CD, it is spectacular. With songs such as My Friends Over You, Head on Collision and Sonny. You will be moshing it up in the pit with all the old, overweight New Found Glory fans. This CD is golden.

9 of the best bands from Ohio...EVER

This list is going to be skewed to North East Ohio since I grew up and still live here.  It's also in no particular order so here we go....

The Dead Boys

I’m proud to say I saw them Halloween ’05 (sans Bators).  Hands down one of the most influential American punk bands, these guys have influenced everyone from the kids playing in their parents’ basement or garage to the likes of Pearl Jam and everyone in between.

Marilyn Manson

Dude grew up in Canton, Ohio.  If you’ve ever been there you’ll understand him and his theatrics are probably just repressed stuff from growing up in Canton that he can finally get out.

Gerald Levett

One of the greats of R & B, look him up and you'll find out why.

Integrity

Whenever I’m on a message board and somebody starts talking shit about Cleveland or Ohio I always play the “Integrity” card.  That normally shuts them up.  If you like metalcore you can thank these guys for being the early trailblazers of this genre.

Bone Thugs and Harmony

Hailing from E. 99th and St. Clair another Cleveland area group that made melodic rap with dark and aggressive lyrics.  These guys are proud of where they are from and show it by sporting Cleveland sports teams apparel in their videos.

Maynard of Tool and APC

I saw APC back in ’01 at Kent State University, located down the street from where Maynard grew up and he mentioned during the show “I never understood why they called a city ‘cunt’”.

Frank Yankovic

I’m not a polka fan but that doesn’t mean that I don’t know how influential Yankovic (no relation to “Weird” Al) is to Polka music.  Let’s just put it this way, he’s what Elvis is to Rock n’ Roll.

Nine Inch Nails

One of the most popular industrial bands EVER!  And they (well Reznor at least) got there early starts in Cleveland.  I’ve known quite a few people over the years that had seen them multiple times back in the day in tiny venues.

Devo

They were covered already but they still rule.
