Protest
in ventura they didn't simply pave paradise. they paved, or built, or planted over... cemeteries. there was a protest downtown today to put pressure on the los angeles archdiocese (good luck). anyhoo, evidently the school next to the mission's been sitting on "hallowed ground" for 86 years.
it gets even better - one of the most popular dog parks in ventura is "cemetery park." you guessed it... they merely took out the headstones and made it a park. maybe i'll take a pic there tomorrow. here's a link if you want to find out more.

I cant honestly say it bothers me. I have the when yer dead yer dead attitude. I would hate to think of myself as taking up space when it could be used as a dog park. Cemetaries are interesting though, especially old ones, and in this country at least they can be wildlife havens.
