Falling in Love is Easy to Do {A David Blaise one-shot for Dang!itsjenny}

[[Here's your one shot Jenny! It goes with the song 'Sand in Your Shoes' Hope you like it!]]

"Yo David what's up with you tonight?" Andy nudged my side, almost spilling his cup of alcohol.
I shrugged and sipped the same beer I had been drinking the whole time I'd been here.
"Lighten up a bit." he chuckled and danced his way back into the crowd.
I stared into the drunken crowd. This wasn't how I wanted to spend my last night in Seatle.
I wanted to remember my last night home. I wanted my friends to remember too.
I couldn't stand this place any longer.
I was just about to leave until I saw her face.
She was laughing with her beautiful smile as she approached me.
"I'm Jenny." she smiled again.
"David." I nodded, getting lost in her dark eyes.
"You look miserable. Do you want to get out?"
I smiled and threw away the empty beer bottle.
"Sure."

We walked out into the warm summer night.
"That party was just empty...Full of empty-minded, drunken people." she giggled.
I nodded. "Too bad no one's going to remember that we left tomorrow." I muttered.
She smiled sadly. "Not everyone." we locked eyes for a moment, only to look away.
We reached my rusty 510.
"Well I know you didn't just want to walk me to my car." I chuckled.
She smirked and looked up into the darkening sky. "Let's go to the beach...watch the sunset." she suggested and hopped in the passenger seat.
I rolled down the windows, allowing the wind to toussel through my hair.
I looked over at Jenny as her black hair whisped across her face.

The sun was almost gone when we reached the beach.
"I'm going to miss this the most. New York really isn't the place for quiet sunsets on the beach." I rubbed sand in between my fingers, letting it fall back to the ground.
"So you come here often." she said more than asked.
I nodded. "It's like...the perfect place to think."
"Well you shouldn't be spending your last night home thinking!" She grabbed my hands and pulled me up. "Have some fun."

She started dancing.
Spinning, throwing her hands up, and smiling.
Her hair was wind blown but she still looked beautiful.
She took my hands and invited me to dance with her.
For the first time in a while, I was happy.
I was genuinely happy dancing with this girl as the sun disapeared.

I hadn't ever felt this feeling as much as I did now.
Just a few moments with Jenny, and I was falling in love with her.
But this was too easy.
Falling in love was supposed to take time.
Where was the catch to this perfect girl?
Oh...right...the fact that I wouldn't see her after tonight when I moved across the country.
I stopped dancing. She followed suit.
I took her face in my hands and pressed my lips against hers.
She was stunned at first, then melted into the palms of my hands.
"Why tonight?" I asked rhetorically. "Why not before, when we had time?"

I woke up next to Jenny the next morning, my arms wrapped around her.
We were both fully clothed, not wanting to do anything the night before that we'd regret.
It was still dark outside. I looked at my clock.
5:45am.
I had four hours left to be with this girl.
"Jenny." I shook her lightly. "Jenny wake up."
"David?" she asked.
"Yeah...Yeah it's me." I whispered.
"What time is it?" she asked groggily.
"It doesn't matter. Let's go back to the beach."

We got back into my car, letting the cool morning breeze rush through the windows again.
We walked on to the chilly beach.
Jenny shivered in her hoodie.
We sat quietly on the shore, watching the sky as it turned shades of light blue and pink.
"I've had the most...amazing time with you David. Even if it was just for one night."
I nodded. "I wish I didn't have to leave."
"You're living your dream." she looked into my eyes.
"Let's dance." I smiled brightly.
She again started dancing on the shore line, splashing me with the cold ocean water.
She grabbed my hands and we moved together, dancing.
She stood on her tip toes to kiss my lips.
I wanted to tell her. Tell her I was falling for her.
But what if she didn't feel the same way?
What if she thought I was just some stupid lovestruck boy who fell in love too easily?
I would never know. I stayed quiet, just enjoying the last bit of our time.

"Bye David." Jenny almost whispered as I threw my bags in the van. "I'll miss you. Thank you for showing me a good time."
I nodded and kissed her forehead.
"Bye Jenny."

----------

I sat backstage, waiting for the previous band to finish their set.
I rubbed my neck, my eyes feeling heavy.
"Come on man. It's been a week. Lighten up. We're in New York!" Daniel tried.
"Don't remind me." I muttered.
He sighed. "It was one night Dave. Atleast brush it off before we go on stage." he patted my shoulder.
I nodded and walked to the dark bathroom.
Daniel was right. It was only one night. So why did I fall do quickly? So hard?
I looked into the mirror. I had lost sleep over this girl, resulting in dark bags underneath my eyes.
"Get yourself together David." I spoke to my reflection before splashing cold water on to my face.

I walked backstage and grabbed my guitar, catching up with the guys before walking on stage.
We were greeted with screams, camera flashes, posters.
We started playing. I strummed my guitar, squinting from the bright lights and looking into the crowd.
This wasn't living my dream. Well it didn't feel like it.
I just wanted to be with Jenny, if only for one more night, dancing on the beach.
Our set went on. My hair was dripping sweat and the crowd still screamed our names.

"We have one last song. It's new, and written by David." Dan spoke into the microphone before sipping his water.
I bit my lip and started playing my song.
It was about her.
They all knew it, just by the look on my face.

"You were laughing with that beautiful mouth." Dan sang.

I pictured her laughing, and walking up to me at the party.
She was just as beautiful in my mind.

"When you're only 18 and you've got nothing to lose, and living your dream with sand in your shoes, falling in love is easy, is easy to do."

I looked back into the crowd, not beleiving what I was seeing.
Jenny stood, front row, smiling up at me.
I smiled back, bigger and brighter than ever.
She came to New York...for me.

We locked eyes as I played, continuously smiling.
She did feel the same way.

Oh I'm falling for you.
