After 13 years and 6 records, Foo Fighters has announced that the band is going on hiatus! I mean, after three years of non-stop touring, they need a vacation, right?

According to Rollingstone.com, the Foo Fighters are already writing new music despite just releasing Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace in September.  “We’re already working on songs.  Got a handful of ‘em already that we’re working on at soundcheck, which has never really happened, so we’re getting a headstart,” says bassist Nate Mendel.

From the ashes of Nirvana rose the Foo Fighters. Drummer Dave Grohl stepped out from behind the kit, grabbed a guitar and addressed the microphone. Former Germ and Nirvana back up guitarist Pat Smear came along to fight the Foo Fighter fight, but soon wandered off on his own. Maybe losing the Germ was Grohl's good luck, considering that the lead singers from Smear's two most high-profile collaborations quit their bands by killing themselves. The Pat curse foiled, Foo Fighters have hung around long enough to become elder statesmen to the MTV generation.
