the stuff of childhood
still no people, but nonetheless not my usual kind of series: for a long time i've wanted to see the places that i grew up -- reconnect, perhaps, to those times before i really understood that not everything in life goes right. the chance to do this was one of the strawman tasks i could set up for myself during my move back to the u.s. if i had to do some driving, why not do it through the old country?
so here's a set of snaps -- where you might have found me from age 5 to 14. the chronology, as much as there is one, is in reverse order.
this was in a certain sense my backyard. our lot backed right onto this lake, and i spent a few summer afternoons on this dock, being bored out of my mind fishing, but very eager to eat any fish we could catch.
