Whilst America has been in the grip of election fever, here on British shores the focus of our attention has been on a little scandal thats been brewing for a couple of weeks. Russell Brand, host of this year's VMA's, has been getting into trouble (along with his pal, fellow broadcaster Jonathon Ross) on his BBC Radio show. The long and short of the story is that Brand made several phone calls to a well respected English actor and alluded to having sex with his grandaughter- you can hear the recording here Brand is known for his edgy humour but this time he seems to have upset a lot of people. The BBC received over 70,000 complaints about this episode (he has since resigned). Conversely there is an uprising on facebook, with groups organising marches calling for him to exonerated from blame. So, for a little bit of light relief - id be interested to know where you stand on this issue, let me know in the boxes below

I'm a little torn on it, to be quite honest.

I abstain from the vote since I don't really like any of the choices.

I can see how people didn't appreciate it. But I mean, in a way there's no reason to get offended since you can't take him seriously anyway. I say lighten up. Well he's resigned hasn't he? There's no reason to make mountains out of mole hills.

In other news, I wish my answering machine had a british accent.

Is that the Andrew Sacks that is in Fawlty Towers ?

Ah, I saw that on papers last weekend. Personally I'm not easy to shock so I don't think it deserved Brand's and Ross' resignation (even if I don't find this prank call funny at all).
But they'll come back, and better than ever.

Yes. He played Manuel.

I didn't find that particular joke funny, but I don't think it's enough to comdemn them completely. They just crossed a line, and maybe they'll learn from that.

Who?

I think Russell Brand has realised he crossed a line he should not have done. I don't think he should talk about who he has slept with on national radio but the worse thing for me was leaving the message on Andrew Sach's answer phone - who wants their grandfather listening to 2 men sniggering about their sexlife? Brand reacted quickly and apologised and resigned from his show and although I personally don't like him much I'm sure he will not loose out careerwise too much.

As for Jonathan Ross - if I never saw him on tv or heard him on radio again I would be happy! I hate the way he talks to women on his chat show - he's such a sleeze! His saturday morning radio show makes me switch stations and I think the amount of money he is paid -£6million a year i s ludicrous.

That was the first time I listened to it and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's seems to be one those things you maybe feel mean for laughing at but you do anyway.
Also I don't think 70,000 people actually listened to it, loads of them are probably jumping on the we hate Russell Brand/Jonathon Ross/Lets complain for the hell of it band wagon. Didn't Andrew Sacks turn the other cheek anyway?

I thought it was hilarious, and Britain should get over it.

OK, they went a bit too far but to be quite honest, the British public have taken this waaaaaaay too far. I admit that they probably should have stopped after the first phonecall, but it's the nature of Russell Brand to take things to far. The thing that's annoyed me a teeny tiny bit is that the majority of the blame and hate has been placed on Brand. If you listen to the clip it becomes very clear that Ross was the one who brought the whole thing up in the first place. Yes, they took it too far but the punishment by far fits the crime. They've apologised, they've been reprimanded...move on Britian.

I think everyone should just get over Russell Brand getting over himself.
I mean, I don't know who he is, and guaranteed I don't like his comedy, but still/.

I just like watching every Twilighter on the planet obsess over, "OMG RUSSEL BRAND INTERRUPTED ROBERT PATTERSON; THEREFORE, HE IS DEVIL SPAWN."

But, his humor is a bit crude for my taste. To each his own.
