Phish Festival 8 Was Sheer Entertainment, Even Without Anyone In A Michael Jackson Costume

Yup, that is right I spent my Halloween weekend at Phish's 8th festival in Indio, CA in the desert on the Empire Polo Fields. Ok. I’ll admit, I haven’t been to a Phish show in awhile.  Back in the day I was an avid Phish fan, but over the years my love for the band dwindled. Walking into the grounds I had no expectations, and thought this would be a just another  show.  8 shows and 3 seriously funky nights later my skepticism was out the door.  Details ...

Phish Festival 8 Is One Of The Hot Spots To Be On Halloween 2009

For the first time ever, Phish will combine two of its most cherished traditions - the Phish festival and the band's Halloween event - in a massive three-day celebration Festival 8. Held October 30th, 31st and November 1st at The Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA., Festival 8 marks several additional firsts: it is Phish's first three-day festival, its first held on the West Coast and it will be the first time that a single band has played consecutive dates at the venue. The scene this Halloween ...

Coachella 2009

So after finally deciding to go to Coachella, it was here!!!

It took us forever to leave on friday, because we had to do a little convincing to get my friend Katrina to come along for the ride. Once we actually got going, it was mid afternoon and rush hour LA traffic was horrible!!! Got there late that night, and ended up not going in the first day! Too much traffic! So we headed to Palm Springs and went to the Riviera for the Music Loves Fashion party! So much fun! And the Belvedere Open Bar was killer! Met so many awesome people!

Passed out around 4am!

Awoke to the beating hot sun of the desert, got ready, had lunch, attempted the Anthem Party for a bit, and then headed to Coachella for day 2, and man was it a TRIPPPPPPPPP. Saw so many amazing acts! I loved Calexico! And MIA was great, even though the crowd wasn't so up to speed. Thievery Corporation did amazing as did the Killers, and Jenny Lewis! Saw alot of new artists I was interested in as well! and MSTRKRFT did an amazing closing to the night! Afterwards we went to the MLF party again and crashed at like 5am. I swear Coachella automatically means sleep deprivation for the average hipster.

Ah! It finally arrives! Day 3!

It was the hottest of all 3 days, and I was wearing cut offs and a sequin beaded blazer! I was dying under it. But you sacrifice for fashion! Saw so many great acts. Lupe was good, as was Lykki Li & Devandra Banhart. I was completely smothered during Yeah Yeah Yeah's because I was right up front against the bar. Karen O looked fabulous! Her Comme de Garcon dress was amazinggggggggggg! And this sad little fucked up girl was getting arrested for drug possession at Coachella and was being layed out by policeman. Kids just never learn. CRACK IS BAD!

Ended the night with Peter Bjorn, and the Cure! So SO GOOD!

And all the art attractions were amazing, especially the do lab! The water experience set up they had this year was off the wall awesome!

I have so many pictures to download, but I lost one of my camera's, so definitely pictures soon!

The Gaslight Anthem candidly discuss opening for Springsteen, the year 1959, and growing up

The Gaslight Anthem aren't afraid to wear their hearts--and their influences--on their sleeves. Playing the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival for the first time, however, may have been a bit daunting for the Jersey-based trio of Springsteen-obsessed punk rockers. We spoke with bassist Alex Levine in a candid, exclusive interview about the constant doors that seem to open for The Gaslight Anthem. The band hoped their mature message, their infectious energy, and their passion for playing real, genuine, and emotional music would win the desert crowd over.

The Ting Tings gloat about new record, Columbia Records, and Morrissey at Coachella '09

It goes without saying that the rock duo of The Ting Tings appreciate art and the culture that comes with it. So we weren't surprised to find out during an exclusive interview with Katie White and Jules De Martino at the 2009 Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival that the band have set up shop in the art suburbs of Berlin to record a new record. They were candid about their experience of signing to Columbia Records and gushed about appearing in a commercial for iTunes.

Young Hollywood Flocks To The Desert For Coachella

Part of the fun of the annual Coachella festival is the sensation of leaving civilization behind as you head off to the remote, palm-studded fields of Indio, California. But no matter how isolated it may seem, it's still only two hours from LA, and you know what that means: celebs, celebs, everywhere celebs.

There are two kinds of celebrities at Coachella: the regulars (we swear, we've seen Cameron Diaz lounging in the VIP like, every year - the girl is a music fan) and the n00bies, the new Hollywood types who you sense are just hanging around to be part of the scene. We won't say which one we think is which, but we'll tell you what we did see. Basically, hotties.

there she goes again. run run run.

finally back in la la land from the dry desert. coachella was everything but dull. hydration was a must and late hours were definitely in your schedule. lauren and i drove up late thursday night. on the way we got some food and picked up some drinks for her house. once we got in, we relaxed in the jacuzzi and watched golden girls. friday morning, we met up with everyone at steves hotel for a dress rehearsal for the performance and then headed over to the show. we went on around 330, and it was a hit!! i danced my little ass off in sequin pants and a leotard for an hour. i had the best time. the music was killer. my favorite performances of the weekend were dj am, paul mccartney, morrisey, the bloody beetroots, steve aoki, lykke li & the murder city devils. saturday, during the day, we hit up the fashion loves music party at the riviera hotel and stopped by a few gifting suites. i got some new sunnies and a cute jumper. at night was the tmobile party. they had tons of yummy food from chipotle, tommy's burgers and coffee bean. danny masterson was djing and did a great job. i had so much fun. the party went till 6a.m., but we left around 4.

today i am going on a search for the movie ciao manhattan, which is a film about edie sedgwick, and i am also going to find valley of the dolls. such a classic. at 2 i have a dentist appointment and i have to go by petco to pick up some things for cinderella. wednesday i have a meeting at polsky productions. back to work. busy girl.

who is your icon? someone you look up to or is an influence to you.

xxoo

New To Me - Bands I Just Discovered At Coachella 2009

All aboard the last train to Lateville! These bands have been rocking for some time, yet I just discovered them. Maybe if I wasn't so busy making the internet safe I would be on the good foot with what's hip these days. Without any further ado, here are the acts I just found out about this year at Coachella 2009.

The Hold Steady and Buraka Som Sistema
