What's Chiodos Without Craig Owens?!

I know I am a little bit late but here's what I have to say...

When a guitarist or bassist leaves a band and they are replaced, the replacement comes in and plays the same notes and same music as the last guy did. Don't get me wrong I certainly know what you mean when you say, "Well yeah but he brought a certain element and energy to the band." And that can be true but when it comes down to the bottom line, the music, its all the same. This is not the case however when vocalists, especially lead vocalists are replaced. In this particular case I am talking about the undeniably talented, Craig Owens.

His wide vocals range is unique and beautiful. From his heavy screams of "I'll stop stabbing, when you stop screaming" to his angelic voice in a song he wrote when he was only 15 years old, "Lindsay Quit Lollygagging". Chiodos without question is never going to be the same without him. Although Craig is no longer with Chiodos I know no matter what he does he will excel with greatness.
Good Luck, Craig Owens.
We have faith in you.

Juse Because I Love You - October

October is my favorite month of the year.  Fall is in its prime, the leaves are turning and rotting; and it may sound weird but I love that smell, and it's starting to cool off, but not so much that freeze your butt off.  And of course, we all know the best part of October is Halloween! It's the best holiday of the year, in my opinion.

I've been in conflict over what I wanted to be.  I went from 80's/Raver, to a zombie, to a ghost, and back again.  I briefly considered vampire, but with all of the mania right now, I'd probably get beat up.  So my best friend and I finally ended up at eighties zombies.  It's going to be so much fun!

We went from Clawson Michigan to Hamburg New York, then back to Clawson, then to Lake Orion.  Three times in the last year or so, that is absolutely ridiculous. That also means three different high schools.  Then, with in the next two or three years, I'll have to move again!

I've been thinking lately about how much all of this moving in the last year has changed me.  I used to be this fun loving person, very social, you could almost never get me to shut up.  I loved meeting new people and trying new things and having awkward shallow conversation with complete strangers.  I had a huge group of friends and loved being with people in general.   I used to live for that kind of stuff!
But then the whole fiasco started, and it seems to have morphed my entire personality into someone I never expected to be.
I now loathe small talk and meeting new people; I have had enough new people to last me the rest of my life.  I'm quieter than I was, even a year ago, more secluded.  I'd rather do things on my own.  My circle has shrunk drastically; I have my two best friends, Haley and Josh (who is also my favorite cousin and band-mate), than I have Casey; who is one of the only good things that came out of New York.

And it's ironic because I plan on going into childcare! And not just childcare, autism childcare, and that's even more difficult.  It's one of those things that if you don't meet new people, you'll never advance in the field, it's a networking kind of thing.

It was a good month in music this month.  We had the new Paramore album (which didn't actually come out in October, but its close enough).  A new Mayday Parade album (which is AMAZING), a new Tokio Hotel album, the Glamour Kills Tour started, and we got a new Young Veins song!  It was a good month indeed.  I also feel I should mention Craig Owens leaving Chiodos.  The band has said that they do not wish to release the reason why.
Chiodos is nothing without him. Craig Owens is and will always be Chiodos; they won't find anyone with a voice like that anywhere else.

I don't know if it's just me, but the "My Song of the Moment" module on my Buzznet page makes me angry.  You type in the artist name and it gives you a pull down list of the songs right? So why are none of the songs I ever want on there? I've tried to get I Swear This Time I Mean It from Mayday Parade, and Therapy from All Time Low, and Careful by Paramore, but they're never there! BLEH!

Anyway, that's my rant of the month.  Happy Halloween!

October 12, 2009

i feel no sympathy.

Dear Grown ups,

I've been watching you for quite a while now and I have come to the conclusion that despite my age, I am not like any of you. I am not like any of you at all. Which is a shame really. And so I thought I would write to you in the hope that you and I might finally begin to understand each other a little better.

I think what happened was my brain stopped growing the moment I turned 14. To prove my point I have written a list of things I still don't understand.

Money

Mortgages

Business

Families

DIY

Insurance Policies

Dinner Parties

Man Chats

Makeovers

Networking

Ambition

Anyway, I know you are always very, very busy and so I will keep todays letter brief. But I will write again soon.

Sincerely yours,

Andre Jordan aged 41

I read the book "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" by Andre Jordan today. I loved it. Totally how I'm feeling today.

Sometimes I Just like to withdraw from the world and think about stuff.

I have tried to be strong, but the weight of my life is enormous.

Be nice. else you'll spend the rest of your life fighting and competing and you'll never trust anyone and you will end up just not being very happy and stuff.

I'm FINALLY starting Bukowski's poem book Bone Palace Ballet.

This quote from him sums up right now: "Do I hate people? No, I just prefer when they're not around."

So, I shut down and restarted my computer for the first time in a while. It "synced to home." I lost all of my internet bookmarks. (research paper websites.) I also just found out I lost all of my photobooth pictures. (about 80? not completely important, but still mean something.) I wonder what else I lost. It's just kind of a part of my life when stuff gets deleted off my computer, since I put SO MUCH on here. Whatever. It has just added to the weight of my life.

ps. sorry for any spelling mistakes. too lazy to check. plus i don't care.

Chiodos Career Suicide

"To all of our friends, family, and fans: We would like to let you know that we have let Craig Owens go as the singer of Chiodos. This decision was a necessary one. Out of respect for all of the hard work that we have put in together for all of these years we will not be discussing the specific reasons that this needed to happen.

"We wish Craig well . We will absolutely be continuing on as a band and we will keep you informed as this next chapter unfolds. Chiodos fans are the best fans in the world and all we can ask of you, after everything you have already given us, is to share in our excitement for this next album. We promise you will not be disappointed."

Absolute career suicide.
They probably just lost half their fans.
Criag Ownens IS and always WILL be Chiodos.

September 27, 2009

here I go...

WHAT. THE. FUCK. Craig Owens was kicked out of Chiodos? NO. They're such fucking assholes. I hope they've had fun ruining their careers and losing more than half of their fan base, me included. I mean REALLY! Craig made Chiodos, I know it's bad to say that, but seriously, you can't have Chiodos without Craig. They just need to start a new band and let Craig try to mend Chiodos or something, because the band is NOTHING without him. The band can go burn in fucking hell, they mean nothing to me anymore. Sorry for the pretty much useless rant, but I am so fucking mad/sad/irritated about this.

Craig Owens kicked out of Chiodos

http://altpress.com/news/craigowensoutofchiodos.htm

Chiodos have announced that they have parted ways with their frontman, Craig Owens. His last show with the band was Aug. 23 at the Los Angeles stop of Warped Tour. The band's statement reads as follows:

"To all of our friends, family, and fans: We would like to let you know that we have let Craig Owens go as the singer of Chiodos. This decision was a necessary one. Out of respect for all of the hard work that we have put in together for all of these years we will not be discussing the specific reasons that this needed to happen. We wish Craig well . We will absolutely be continuing on as a band and we will keep you informed as this next chapter unfolds. Chiodos fans are the best fans in the world and all we can ask of you, after everything you have already given us, is to share in our excitement for this next album. We promise you will not be disappointed............Brad, Jason, Pat, and Matt"

This is the second member of Chiodos to get the boot this year; drummer Derrick Frost was served his walking papers in May.

No official comment has been issued by Owens at this time; earlier today, he tweeted, "Home for months - first time in a long time. I plan to write a song everyday, take vocal lessons & become much better at what I already do." He also recently announced plans for a solo covers EP.

Two days ago, Chiodos keyboardist Bradley Bell tweeted, "You've become inconvinient," which one can only assume relates to this decision.

Warped Tour 2009!

Went to the Detroit Warped last Friday. So. Fucking. Amazing.
My computer has been down so i havent been  able to post, but now it's working again!

The Devil Wears Prada
OMG I don't think I've ever been more scared for my life than I was at this set.  I'm really not a fan of them, but they are one of my best friend Haleys bands, and she missed them last year because we were in line waiting to meet Cobta Starship.
So we went to see them this year, and it was a disaster.  We couldnt even stay for the whole set.
We accidentally got caught in a Crop Circle in the first song and were knocked over and trampled.  We both lost our shoes and my foot was dripping blood all over the place.  Some randon guy had to help me up before I was hurt worse and then we left during the first song.  Unfortunately it took us fifteen minutes to get out of the crowd.  Never again....

Sing It Loud
I have only recently fallen in love with this band.  They remind me alot of All Time Low, which is pretty awesome.  They played all my favorites! No One Can Touch Us, Best Beating Heart, Come Around, Bite Your Lip, and Don't Save Me. Ah - mazing.

After this we Had like two hours to kill o we just shopped around and stuff.
Went to the All Time Low meet and greet and it was awesome.  I got a high five from Jack! and Alex smiled at me! *faints*
I got their Break Your Little Heart t shirt and a copy of Nothing Personal and they signed them for me!

So then we had another hour or so until All Time Low's set.  (funny, all of thee bands we wanted to see were either early in the day or late.  So we had alot of spare time!)

All Time Low
What can I say? It was All Time Low.  That's really all that needs to be said.  This was my second time seeing them, and was still unbelieveable.
They did Weightless, Six Feet Under the Stars, Lost in Stereo, Dear Maria, Break Your Little Heart, Damned if I Do Ya, and Jasey Rae.  I really wish they would have done Therapy, but hey, they're coming back in the Fall so maybe they'll do it then.

Chiodos
Went and saw Chiodos last year too.  Still really good show.  They broke My Chemical Romance's record of 60 Crowd-Surfers all at once.  It was so cool to see all those people in the air.  New album out soon.  Cool Cool.

3oh!3
This was our first time seeing 3oh!3 and they did an epic show.  Did all my favorites.  'Nuff said.  We only watched the first half of the set though, we wanted to see Cash Cash!

Cash Cash
Another one I only recently fell in love with, their sound is like a sweet combination of Forever the Sickest Kids and All Time Low, which is a cool combination.  They did my faves, Party in Your Bedroom, Sugar Rush, Radio, plus a few I haven't heard before, but definitely liked.
I met the lead singer at their merch stand earlier in the day, but was (unfortunately and infuriatingly) too shy to say anything except "hi".  I felt like an idiot.

We tried to make it to The Maine too, but we couldn't get good enough spots and couldn't see a thing so we left.  Which is ok because I saw them last November so I didn't mind too much.

Spottings and Meetings:
All Time Low (met)
Cash Cash (met Jean Paul Makhlouf, vocals)
Madina Lake (spotted)
A Skylit Drive (spotted)
Sing It Loud (spotted Pat Brown, lead vocals)
Mandy K (met. Weren't performing, but I went to their High School in NY and they were total Hometown Heroes.  Way cool dudes.  Check'em out, they have an EP)
30h!3 (spotted cause we were on side of fence and they were on other)

So that was my Warped this year! despit the battle wounds, it was still better than last year.  Way more encounters with the bands, whereas last year they were almost non existent.
Hopefully I'm going to blinks reunion tour later this month, so let's keep our fingers crossed!
