Dear God

(June 26, 2009 - 10:58pm)

Dear God,

I just came back from visiting Your house. I had fun and for the first time in a long time, craved to be like a child. It's easier. The days of my youth are treacherous. The world puts things before man that decieves. Even though I am raised by a disciplinary family, I still hear and see the world. Even though I am in my bedroom for countless hours instead of out in the streets at night, my spirit is threatened by the warfare in my mind. God I want to write for You and You alone. I want these hands to be annointed. I want my spirit to cry out to You. I want to feel Your spirit guide me in Your ways. Close my ears to every lie. Shut my eyes from the wiles of the enemy. This world seeks to destroy my faith and bind me with their chains. Help me to be fed with Your spirit. Give me strength. I know God that it is only by Your grace that I may be strengthened. Help me to wear the full armor of God.

US Singer To Aid Children With Speech Difficulties

Indiana Gregg truly is an inspiration.

From a child suffering with speech difficulties, to a successful wife, mother, businesswoman and recording artist, her journey has been long and eventful.

Today, Glasgow-based Indiana is in the final stages of formally launching "Kerchoonz", a new social media platform for bands and artists, where fans can listen to music for free, and bands are paid for each stream through an advertising share that they receive from the site. Sales of the new "K-box", a gel audio portable speaker which transforms surfaces into sound, are soaring and she is putting the finishing touches to "K'Ching", an online sale and auction shop.

In the midst of all this, Indiana still finds time to record her material and perform live. However, she has not forgotten the hurdles she has managed to overcome, and has vowed to use her experience in helping others to overcome theirs.

"I hope that my story will encourage other children to follow their dream, especially in music", she says. "Challenges can be overcome and will make them stronger and more determined individuals later in life".

Indiana's story began in primary school, in the United States. A musical child, she was frustrated by the inability to control her stammering and the teasing which she endured on a daily basis. Music, however, gave her focus and an outlet for true expression and she felt most at home performing on stage. Her speech therapist, who she saw twice each week for five years, encouraged her to use her singing talent, storytelling and physical expression to distract her for being nervous, and it is this one woman, she says, who led her to a career as a recording artist.

"I was able to perform without having any trouble, since a song could easily be rehearsed and not stuttered", Indiana explains. "It gave me the opportunity to relax. Memorising a song and performing it became much easier than having to speak out loud to people".

Indiana is determined to use her own personal success and that of her organisation, Kerchoonz, to assist therapists through music and performing. Through utilising her own musical resources, and speaking to similarly-affected children, she is there to offer hope and support. "Kerchoonz is interested in partnering with music, speech and autism therapists who are interested in using both live and recorded music as part of their therapy groups. We can help them to find local musicians as well as recorded music and are involved in developing audio tools like our recently released "K-box" speaker, to assist with their programme. We hope to work with therapists globally, to gain feedback and give support through the power and outreach of the Kerchoonz social network and the internet as a whole".

With an estimated 300,000 children in the UK under the age of sixteen currently experiencing this difficulty, without any definitive "cure", Indiana and Kerchoon's input will prove to be a valuable resource for many therapists in this field.

Indiana is a singer-songwriter living in Lenzie near Glasgow, Scotland . Her music contains elements of pop, soul and folk. Releases include featured artist on Kool & the Gang's "The Hits Reloaded" where she performed their hit titled "Tonight" and a 2007 debut release of her album "Woman At Work" with singles "Sweet Things", "Love Is Blind" and "One of Us" released from the album in April, June and October 2007 respectively.

Indiana is also co-founder and director of Kerchoonz.com, a social networking site that pays musicians, bands, artists and songwriters when the public listens to their music. Indiana and her music producer husband, Ian Morrow, began developing the site in October 2006. The site went into beta in October 2008 and is scheduled to fully launch later this month.

Children tortured, exiled and killed in Nigeria for being "Witches"

Some of this might be disturbing....

Along the southern edge of West Africa, countless children (many under the age of 10) are abused, abandoned, tortured and even murdered every day by parents, neighbours and religious preachers.

Why?

Because they have been denounced as witches.

A death in the family, it is the fault of the witches.

A failed crop, it is the fault of the witches.

Mania, depression and poverty, it is the fault of the witches.

“Witches” are "identified" by religious leaders at extremist churches where Christianity and traditional beliefs have combined to produce a deep-rooted belief in, and fear of, witchcraft. The priests spread the message that child-witches bring destruction, disease and death to their families. And they say that, once possessed, children can cast spells and inflict it on others others.

Once identified, preists have been known to use tactics such as burning, poisoning, beating the child , chaining them up, even burying them alive in order to get a confession or punish them. The children can find themselves locked in small, dark rooms for weeks, deprived of sleep, food and sunlight.

Imagine the witch trials of the medieval times and you’re pretty close.

Some parents of these poor children pay enormous sums of money for a “deliverance” (exorcism), often it will be all that they have. In many cases the pastor will claim that the witch will need a second, third and fourth deliverance, which the impoverished families can not afford. During the "deliverance" ceremonies, the children are shaken violently, dragged around the room and have potions poured into their eyes. If a child can’t be cured in this way then the child will often be exlied or killed.

The resulting homeless children are extremely vulnerable to the serious human-trafficking problem, rape and abuse. Not to mention the mental scarring of being alone and homeless at such a young age.

It’s not merely a case of evil, brainwashing priests being blindly followed by worshippers.

The combination of economic, agricultural, social and political unrest in the country creates a massive amount of tension. Things are going wrong and people want a reason for it, distrust for the government makes these people turn to another source for answers.

There is an organisation out there to help them called Stepping Stones Nigeria.

Basically they take these children out of danger, give them a home and offer some rehabilitation from the trauma they have suffered.

SSN is still a baby charity and really needs to expand. They need your money and so do the children.

Please at least check it out and help stop this insanity.

Halloween Ideas Anyone?

Okie, heyy!! Its me, Lacey!!

Okie, so, uh, I know that Halloween is super duper far away, but I still feel the neediness to ask you creative jack-o-lanterns this oh so charming question.

I wont try to make the question all flashy or word it all pretty, cause when people do that, half the time I dont even know what the hell the freakin question is! All I end up thinking is "Wow, this is such a pretty question. This dude worded it perfectly. Wowzers!"

So my question is, "What should I dress up as for Halloween?"

I know, I know! Dress up? What are you, twelve? No! I just likey dressing up for Halloween! Its fun and makes me feel like Im 5 all over again!

It could be anything! A puppy, a box, a piece of candy, you!

Just tell me and maybe a sentence or something as to why you chose that costume...

Sooo... uhh, thankies and voice your pretty opinions in the comment box below my beautiful words.  Down below, folks! Thankies again!!

Pete Wentz speaks out about pending birth

He's been reading books in advance of fatherhood

Pete Wentz is preparing for the pending birth of his first child by reading books and talking to his father-in-law and father.

Wentz performed with Fall Out Boy at the Victoria's Secret PINKapalooza back-to-school collection launch in Los Angeles recently, and says he’s been busy reading up about what to expect when the baby is born.

"I'm reading all the books," Wentz told OK! Magazine. "The best one I've read so far is ‘The Expectant Father’. I'm talking to my dad a lot. I'm talking to Ashlee's dad a lot. We hang out with other people who have kids. You see the world in a different way. It's exciting."

Wentz married singer Ashlee Simpson in California in May. The couple announced Simpson’s pregnancy shortly after the wedding.

February 15, 2008

this is really sad

This is so sad....

My name is Chris

I am three,

My eyes are swollen

I cannot see,

I must be stupid

I must be bad,

What else could have made

My daddy so mad?

I wish I were better

I wish I weren't ugly,

Then maybe my mommy

Would still want to hug me.

I can't do a wrong

I can't speak at all

Or else im locked up

All day long.

When im awake im all alone

The house is dark

My folks aren't home

When my mommy does come home

I'll try and be nice,

So maybe i'll just get

One whipping tonight.

I just heard a car

My daddy is back

From Charlie's bar.

I hear him curse

My name is called

I press myself

Against the wall

I try to hide

From his evil eyes

I'm so afraid now

I'm starting to cry

He finds me weeping

Calls me ugly words,

He says its my fault

He suffers at work.

He slaps and hits me

And yells at me more,

I finally get free

And run to the door

He's already locked it

And i start to bawl,

He takes me and throws me

Against the hard wall

I fall to the floor

With my bones nearly broken,

And my daddy continues

With more bad words spoken,

"I'm sorry!", I scream

But its now much to late

His face has been twisted

Into a unimaginable shape

The hurt and the pain

Again and again

O please God, have mercy!

O please let it end!

And he finally stops

And heads for the door

While i lay there motionless

Brawled on the floor

My name is chris

I am three,

Tonight my daddy

Murdered me
