As you heard in last night's post of my Crocus, I went back to where my house used to be! At the other end of that road there are two old farms that haven't been demolished like mine! I saw that one of the horses was standing outside and got the idea to pull over and take a few shots! I tried to convince the horse to come up closer to me, but it wouldn't budge! So I went for the barn instead! If you remember, I have posted barn photos off and on since I have been here! I really enjoy photographing them and the country living that they represent! If you look in full size, off to the right behind some brush there is also a donkey and a pony that wouldn't come near me either! ( :

It rained hard here most of the day today, so most of the snow has melted ! YAY!!!!! I am just a wee bit THRILLED!!! And by "wee bit" I mean a whole lot ! Yesterday Crocus and today rain! I think spring is arriving afterall ! I was wondering if it would ever happen! My spirits are high on that issue!

That brings me to another issue that has my spirit ...well...not so high! I never know if you guys feel like I am always complaining or whining about my health! It is never my intention to do either! I feel like I am sharing my life with my family here! That said, I got some bad news from my Dr appt yesterday! I gained 4 lbs! While that doesn't sound like much, when you are as short as I am (and diabetic) that is a lot ! I was so sad that I sat there and cried! Over the past year I have gotten really puffy especially in my neck and face! I look just awful ! So, to see what was up they did a bunch of bloodwork ! I got most of the results today and it wasn't good ! Well my thyroid is good, so there was one positive! My sodium is low, and my protein is very low! Low protein means high blood sugar! Really high! They are making me see a dietician! I feel somewhat humiliated! I understand nutrition! So, once again I am caught between a rock and hard place! With Crohn's Disease I need to be on a low residue diet ! With diabetes I need to be on a high residue diet to get the needed protein that I am missing! I wish they could just hook me up to an IV and infuse me with protein! The most likely reason for my protein being low is that I have been having Crohn's issues ever since I had the flu last month! So, even though my system is working as hard as it can, I am not absorbing the protein or other nutrients from my foods! It is always something with me! I would just love a break!

My Crocus Are Up

Well, I had a doctor appointment and a hair appointment in Cheboygan today! On our way home I decided to go and look at my old house! Well the house is long gone, but the 40 acres is still there! I pulled just a little ways into the driveway and I could see yellow dots up by where my porch had been! That made me excited and hopeful! So, I decided to trespass ! I walked up they muddy driveway and sure enough, my Crocus are up!!!!! Spring is going to happen afterall ! Since I am not at all a criminal I was very nervous about trespassing!!! My hands were shaking, so I quick snapped a few photos and got out of there as quickly as I could ! I was so happy to see that at least a little bit of my life is still there! My daffodils and tulips were planted in a box that was up against the front of our house! So, I assume they are gone forever! They pulled out all of my Chickens too, but they didn't know my Crocus were there! The ground is way too wet and still covered in snow for me to go and pay respects to my pet cemetary or my Chelse's memorial ! They took out all the rocks and all the drift wood we had put in there, but the sentiment will always be there for me! I miss my pets and I really miss my baby! I guess it was a bitter sweet experience! The sweet is that I get to share my Crocuses here with you! (:

Trevor's 23rd Birthday

Tonight we celebrated Trevor's 23rd birthday! He wants me to thank everyone for all the birthday wishes that you gave him during the week! We had a great party and a great time! When I asked what Trevor wanted us to cook for his birthday dinner, he said that he wanted to cook for us for his birthday dinner! So he did ! He made us delicious burgers cooked on the grill and french fries! Then Grace made him an AMAZING birthday cake! She just got a bit carried away with when putting on the candles! According to this cake, Trevor is 48 ! I don't think I could have a son who is older than me! (:

Oscar the Tortoise

Trevor and I went to Petoskey today so that he could buy some new clothes since he has lost so much weight! It was a fun day! We can't shop without visiting Tropic Cove and checking out the cute little critters! I was super impressed with this little Tortoise! He doesn't really have a name yet, but he looks like an Oscar to me! So, I called him Oscar! He seemed to like me back! If I put my finger up to the glass on his aquarium he would open his mouth! He probably wanted me to feed him or something! I so wish that I could have brought him home with me! The hardest part of coming home after a trip to Petoskey is leaving all the animals at Tropic Cove behind!

Since I have been keeping you all up on our deplorable weather situation, I will report that we got another 3 inches of snow last night and a bit more throughout today! I don't know what is up with Mother Nature! I am depressed and feeling like spring will never come this year! We need sunshine!

I just realized that I can take a screen cap of my iPhone!!! Is that cool, or what?!!! I thought I would share it with you ! I had a wonderful day babysitting! I had everyone except James (he had a doctor's appt so he left with his parents) because school was closed after the storm we got yesterday and last night! It snowed about 10 inches overnight and that was over a layer of ice from the freezing rain that fell first ! I was sure we were going to lose power the way it was whipping around, but thankfully we didn't! A lot of Michigan did, but we didn't up here! The snow blew so hard up against our front door that when we opened it the snow was way up over the doorway! We had to carefully stretch and step over it so we didn't knock it over into the house! This is the winter that never ends! I am almost finding humor in it ! (:

I couldn't believe when I was going into Kilwin's this morning in Cheboygan and saw this! The huge snowbank that was there has melted down and these flowers stayed on the plant all winter long! How does this even happen? They are very determined little flowers! Plus, we are getting a storm tonight and the wind started blowing a gale this morning !!! The dried petals didn't even blow off ! It is a mix of freezing rain and snow out there right now! I want spring so bad !!! But, according to records there is only one month in Northern Michigan that has never had snow! That is August ! I remember when it snowed in July! I was 4 years old ! So, I shouldn't be surprised ! OH, and I am feeling much better! The only thing that I have left today is the fever! I want to thank you all so much for your wishes yesterday! You guys ROCK!!! (:

Daffodils

Everyone is posting Daffodils and I am LOVING them! It will be quite awhile before we have any here, so I am posting one that I shot back in 2009 at my old house! One of the downsides of an apartment is that I can't plant flowers or feed wildlife! I used a black background for this one and I have always liked how it came out!

I was supposed to get my hair done today, but I am not feeling well enough! I think that I frustrated my friend who does it for me by cancelling! I just had a bad night which turned into a bad day! It happens to me! Today is Trevor's birthday! He is now 23 year old ! I am not old enough to have a 23 year old, am I? LOL! He is up at school so we will be celebrating with him this weekend! (:

Yep, I am babysitting today! I sort of gave that away! (: It has been a great day even though Gary is teething! I actually got him to pose for me! YAY!!! I know he is wearing the same outfit in every shot that I post! It says, "Auntie's Little Man"! So each day that I am here I put it on him! He has more clothes, I promise! (: We played a lot today! Plus, I chased him out of things he isn't supposed to be into all day! I don't need to go to the gym three times a week! I chase a one year old ! No personal trainer could ever top that workout ! Mr James had a great day too! He was a joy to be around! I love these little boys so much! (:

As she walks around that little curl bobs up and down behind her! SO CUTE!!! To be honest, I love everything about her! She is my kitty baby! (:

This is my 2nd favorite photo! This was my first time using a digital camera! It was my first Kodak Easy Share! We went camping at Indian Lake in the Upper Peninsula and our campsite was right up against a hill that went down to the lake! When the sun set it was glorious! The 2nd night we were there I had the idea to take the kids in a profile type photo! I am so glad that I did! I miss them being this small ! (:

First of all, this is NOT photoshopped ! I swear on my life! This was taken in 2009 at my old house! I fed the squirrels and the birds right outside my window so I was constantly taking photos of them! This squirrel was my most regular, and I named her Fluffy! She was also a character as you can see! One sunny day she just hopped up on the football my son's had left there after playing a game of catch ! When I saw her out there perched on the football I about died of laughter! I couldn't get my camera on fast enough! Luckily I was able to capture her in this silly pose ! (:

Baby Gary is calling you to say "Hello"! Only he is talking on a remote not a phone! He thinks it is a phone and walks all over "talking" on it! It cracks me up to watch him ! He gets very serious! I will tell him, "call Grandma", "call Papa", "call Buzznet" and he thinks that he does! He jabbers away as if someone is on the line with him!

Believe it or not, we drove home from Cheboygan today in a near white out! It was storming like crazy with big huge heavy snowflakes! It started as rain and turned to snow, so the roads had water under the snow/ice on them! We were sliding and hydroplaning all over the place! It is still scary even though we have been doing it for months now! It has snowed every day this week! We have another big storm coming in on Saturday! I have my fingerscrossed that it will just be rain and no snow!

Easter Fun

Kay and I spent the afternoon coloring Easter Eggs! I colored mine with a PAAS kit, and she painted hers! These are mine! I really enjoyed the family time with her and Trevor! Then for the evening we went to Andy's house for a big family dinner! The food was amazing!!! Sadly, I couldn't eat too much! I made sure to taste everything, but I am still struggling with issues from the flu that I had two weeks ago and how it effected my Crohn's Disease! I didn't photograph the food and such like I usually do! Some of Elaine's family was there too! It was great to see them! But, it was very crowded and me taking photos would have only been an inconvenience for everyone! So, there won't be an Easter Dinner photo blog this year! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and a wonderful day! (:

These bunnies were in the Antique and Collectibles store that Kay and I visited on Thursday! I thought they would be perfect for my Easter post ! I am imagining what prompted this sign! (: Well...we broke our "no snow for X many days" this morning! When I woke up and went to babysit, it was snowing! But...but...by 1pm it was sunny and warm! By warm I mean 38 degrees farenheit or 3.3 degrees celcius! Snow was melting!!! We have a long way to go, but it was so nice I opened my window! I am freezing, but the fresh air smells so nice! Also, I woke up feeling much better today! I am guessing that tomorrow will bring the end of the flu for me! (:

I Want Camera!

It is so hard to get a decent photo of Baby Gary right now because he is captivated by my camera! He wants to get ahold of it ! That can't happen! Although, he does get close enough that I keep finding tiny fingerprints on my lens! He is nearly 16 months old already! He is growing so quickly!

This stomach flu is bad news! I am going to try to comment tonight for awhile! If I miss or have missed your post, I will catch up later in the week! I promise! You all know how much I love and adore my Buzznet Family!

Icicle Drips

I thought these huge icicles were very pretty with the blue sky in the background! It hasn't snowed for 3 whole days! Wahoo! The temps have been in the mid 30s, so we have had some snow melting! We still have feet of it on the ground, but seeing the drips run down these icicles is promising! Spring will bloom soon!

Also, I haven't been around because we have stomach flu running through our family! I have had it for 2 days now, and it is lasting about 5 days! My head hurts, my eye balls hurt, my spine hurts, and I have HORRIBLE stomach pains! Those are followed by all things nasty! I will spare you the details! I am so miserable I want to cry! Today is James' 4th birthday so I had to go out even though I feel this bad! So, sometime this next week you can expect a birthday blog full of all the cuteness that is my precious James!

Barbeque Anyone?

This is our spring folks! The barbeque grill is on the edge of the deck! That is how deep the freaking snow is again! Right behind the grill is a jacuzzi! Yes, you are looking a rather large jacuzzi or hot tub whatever you want to call it! There is no way to know it is even there! You could walk over the cover of it and you would never know! Tomorrow I will probably post my car so that you can all laugh at me! I honestly have no idea how I will dig it out !

The food at The Depot is quite pricey, but they also house BC Pizza and that is very reasonably priced! So, you can sit in the fine dining room and eat pizza! Then you can order fine dining dessert, and that is what we did! I hope continue to allow that! (:

Last night we went to The Depot to nom on some pizza, and celebrate all things Irish! Well, almost, they had cabbage and corn beef on a special! We stuck with the pizza! They had this sparkley shammrock hanging in the doorway that used to be the part of the depot where you would actually board a train! The place was packed, and I got a lot of strange looks taking this shot! I don't much care! I am used to it by now! (:

Crooked Lake

On Monday before all hell broke loose, I stopped in Conway, to get a few shots of the ice melting on the lake! This is a diffrent lake, obviously, than the one that I posted last week sometime that my mom lives on! Here someone is trying to get their fish shanty off the ice before it melts! They had it all the way up to the shore! I hope they made it! For ice fishing, people spud a hole in the ice to catch fish through! They put a shanty or a shack over that hole so that they can keep warm and have a place to sit while they fish away! Crazy people drive their trucks out there to put the shanty on and off, and to get back and forth to shore! Most use snowmobiles or four wheelers! Some just simply walk! Okay, I didn't want this to be about ice fishing, but that is the way it is going! Let's get back on track! You can see patches of water on top of the ice! Pretty soon all that ice will melt and sink and we will just see a very pretty lake and a sandy shore! I am glad to see these signs of spring!

If you want to see who owns the shanty, check this out in full size! They have to put their name and town on the building so that the Conservation Officers can identify them! You can also see the ice melting and the beautiful homes on the other side of the lake from where I took this! (:

I am a Kevin Harvick fan through and through, but I can't help but be excited about Danica Patrick being the first woman to run in the top tear of NASCAR! There are lots of people who hate her because NASCAR has always been a boys club! There are some who think she is getting too much publicity for simply being a woman and not for being a good driver! Well, let me tell you, if she wasn't a good driver, she wouldn't be there! She worked her way up through just like everyone of those boys! I am glad to have her around, and I hope she opens the door for more women to run Cup in the future! Just my not so humble opinion! (:

Paradise Lake

You aren't looking out over an open field ! You are looking at a lake! I can't help but think how different this photo would be if taken in July! Here in Northern Michigan we have 4 very distinct and often very severe seasons! It boggles my mind that Mother Nature can change SO much over just one year! The last 2 days the snow has really been melting! We still have a lot on the ground, but our driveway is melting some! That is good because it means spring is nearly here! It is not good because we have HUGE ruts in our driveway and don't even mention the potholes in our streets! As the frost comes up out of the ground it destroys pavement! It is a miracle to me every year that our cars don't just disappear into our enourmous potholes!!! I am getting off track! I hope to be posting photos soon that have actual flowers in them! Oh Spring, please come SOON!!! (:

James in His Green Tuxedo

James got his very first tuxedo this week ! He will be wearing it in the spring figure skating show next weekend! He was so excited to have it that he wanted to sleep in it ! He is so darn cute! He also got his very first trophy and patches for his club jacket! Both the trophy and the patches have his name, year, and level on it! He is the cutest little skater! I wish you could all see him! That is not too bad for a boy who is only 3 years old !

Gary's Singing Dinosaur

Jane and JJ wanted to see how Gary's singing dino works, so I took a video of it with my phone! The button for a grown up to turn the toy on is in the back ! Then the child only also has to push down on the balls inside it, or turn the little toy in the front to make it sing! I asked Gary to turn it on, and he went to the grown up button first! That cracked me up! He is too smart sometimes! Anyhoots, I hope you like it ! Gary certainly does! (: OH...I hate the way my own voice sounds!

This is a better shot of my mom's little cutie pie! She is the funniest dog! She wants all of your attention all of the time! We have to keep her out of the bathroom because she will chew up any towel or wash cloth! She also gets into the garbage! She can be so naughty, but how can you ever be mad at that sad face! My mom has had basset hounds my whole life, and this one has to be the cutest! I just love her!

Trev and Kay made it back to Pellston right on time! They had some wild flights, but no delays! Jordan won't be back in Japan until tomorrow our time! Thank you all for your comments, thoughts, and prayers for their safety! You guys rock! (:
