Fall Out Boy's bassist Pete Wentz has launched a legal battle against Canadian band Neurosonic for exploiting his girlfriend Ashlee Simpson, according to reports.
The group's song 'So Many People' references American TV show Saturday Night Live, on which Simpson was famously slammed for lip-syncing during her performance.
Neurosonic sing in the track: ''Everything under the sun / Going to hell in an episode of SNL / Busted on the TV /You ugly girl, you cannot sing / Can't even lip sync / Apparently money can even buy you dignity" and "Since practice wasn't on the list / Clearly talent doesn't exist... Whose dick did you have to suck to get that number one song?

Frontman Jason Darr also reportedly encouraged the audience at the Knitting Factory in New York to mimic a dance similar to Ashlee Simpson after her performance on show.

So do you agree with wentz' action?

pete already cleared this up and said it was bogus and he wasn't suing because it would be a waste of time.

I think that is ok for Pete to stand up for his girlfriend. But c'mon,Ashlee?Who would actually stick up for her??? Ashlee is only using pete to get attention from the media!!!
queenoftheconverse: 12/06/2007 11:51 AM
hahaha. even if this is bogus ashley should stick up for herself. and everything they said in the song is sooo true! lmao
fobmcrtaipatd: 12/06/2007 12:21 PM
yeah pete did clear it up in an interview he said he had never even heard of the band. here's what he said:
The New York Post (booooo!) and their gossip column, Page 6, (BOOOOOO!) posted a story about how Pete had filed a cease-and-desist order against the crap band Neurosonic because of a song they wrote bashing Ashlee.

This is totally untrue, and I got the real deal straight from the Pete's mouth:

Me: Did you really file a cease-and-desist? That seems kind of...whiny.

Pete: I have never filed a cease and desist in my life. I would never sit here and try to censor someone. If anything, I would write an artistic response--but the truth is i have never heard of this band or this song, so I wouldn't even do that. I dont know anything about it.

Would you ever challenge them to musical showdown or rap-off?

Nah. The one thing I am proud of myself in the last year is getting rid of the beef in my life. I mean, I haven't been in high school in about a zillion years and these "beefs" over nothing seem a bit childish now. However, as an owner of a record label, I understand the idea of creative marketing... put someones name out in the press and get attention for your own band. The problem with the Internet is that people believe absolutely everything they read when in fact much of it is a complete lie.

Any plans to retaliate with a snarky song of your own?

Nah. We don't really waste our time talking about things that happened three years ago.

There have been a lot of negative things said about Ashlee, why go
after these guys in particular?

exactly. i wouldnt.

option B's winning! hey!
oxkristenxleighxo: 12/07/2007 2:15 PM
i dont even think that this is even any of our business, personally. i think that we should just let them do what they want to with this situation and just deal with the result.

inocent2389: 12/08/2007 2:33 AM
hmm...that song wasn't even worth the breath to sing it. Neurosonic is just a little nothing band that wouldn't of got any attention if it wasn't for this damn rumor. And "So Many People" just sounds to me like a pack of grown men picking on someone for something that's dead, old news. If you're going to trash-talk, at least do it well. Christ...
regiftedheart: 12/08/2007 8:11 AM
I'm not even sure if I believe this... I mean REALLY??....even IF freedom of speech were irrelevant... they didn't even use her NAME (because that could be considered public slander).... but is it POSSIBLE to sue someone for talking crap (or even singing it) about your GIRLFRIEND?? (Stuff like that would've made high school ALOT more interesting.)

Besides, those lyrics are AWFUL... Pete could write better Anti-Ashlee lyrics in his sleep!! hahah... and if things go sour between the two of them... at least we can expect an AMAZING album out of it!! YAY!!!!! *anticipates not the demise of the relationship people... but the ART that will come of it*

LEGALLY, logically, really just ANY way you think about it... this makes no f-ing sense, not even SHE could sue over those lyrics.

So this one goes into the the WHOPPER box.
irokhard: 12/08/2007 11:05 AM
I mean I know pete was mad but I am almost POSITIVE that he didn't sue I mean that seems out of character for him but I mean what does it matter tons of people HATE Ashlee and they can say whatever about her and I think that she should fight her own battles and come back headstrong. I do admire her just owning up to it though I don't particularly like her but you get it.
