May 16, 2007Peek Squad
Busted!
A California woman is suing Geek Squad (aka "Peek Squad") and Best Buy after one of their techs allegedly taped her taking a shower. The geek in question, named Hao Kuo Chi, used the customer's bathroom before fixing a broken PC. He left his camera phone on "record" in the bathroom. One of the two girls who lives in the house (a minor) took a shower. When she saw the phone, she told her sister. Sarah Vasquez says he set his camera phone up in the bathroom, left it running, and recorded her bathing. "You could see him on the video setting it up," Vasquez said. "I was shocked." The sisters called their stepfather, who reported the Geek Squad tech to police, and Hao Kuo Chi was arrested while he was still at their house. This isn't a joke, see the additional videos here, here and here.
Then former Geek Squad Agent Hao Kuo Chi appeared in court on April 3rd, 2007. He plead "no contest" to one count of unlawful invasion of privacy, according to the LA County DA's office, and he received this sentence:
Now, this doesn't mean that he necessarily did what they say he did. It just means he didn't oppose the charge. A Geek on a tree farm, surrounded only by manual implements. Sounds like justice to me. And thanks, Jenn, for the inspiration on this!

December 18, 2006Cell Phone Telephoto: See You Next Tuesday? Freelance shutterbugs using cell phone cameras to do guerilla surveillance now have the option of zooming in. The tech-watchers at Gizmodo are reporting that telescopic lenses are now available to snap on to Nokia and Sony Ericsson units. The attachment provides a six-fold enlargement of the subject under observation, which means a stalker could peek into his ex-girlfriend's bedroom window from two blocks away and feel like he's right there under the covers with her. Just be careful not to zoom in further than is good for your mental health. ![]() ![]()

August 9, 2006oh how I love to photo-blog with a camera phone!
For those of you that know me, you most certainly know that I am not
worthy of owning a really nice cell phone. I may have grown out of my
crazy cell phone breaking stage, since it has been close to a year
since I have damaged one!!! But..... I usually end up downgrading not
upgrading, so I still own the antique of cell phones.
Last night (8/9) I was loned a Nokia Camera phone and I got to Shozu a bunch of pictures at the Dirty Pretty Things show at the Henry Fonda Theatre!!! I know realize why so many people are holding their cell phones up in the air at concerts, when they should be dancing their asses off. Anyway, I am announcing this because this just might become a new trend of mine... to take camera phone pics and upload them to my Buzznet account~ if you want to check out my pics... I have some okay shots of Dirty Pretty Things from last nights performance.
