So i went to see sunny day last night. i do believe that it was their first time playing in california, without the whole ruckus about almost acoustic christmas, ever so that was epic. My mom got sick so she couldnt take me but she did read the review of sunny day in the paper and it said that they were playing in la also. I was a little busted cuz she wanted to know why the drive. She also said in her mocking mother tone "did you know that sunny day real estate was one of the original emo bands and that they have inspired such acts as paramore and...." oh mother how i live without you. actually i couldnt since you birthed me but thats beside the point. my dad drive me and my friend to anaheim (its kinda far) all the way to downtown disney (no lie) us emo kids walking out of the lilo and stitch parking lot into downtown...downtown disney that is! but we got to the house of blues and the security guard who wanded me looks at my shoes (converse with some awesome laces that i did and x's on the rubber part with athletic tape...the story of these shoes are very epic) he goes "nices x's" i say "thanks " he continues "did u put those on there urself" "yeah i did" "so do you know your left from your right yet?" my reply of course was no because in all reality i still take a long time to figure out my left from my right cuz i second guess myself after i think of the first answer. I was honestly smarter in kindergarten than i am now. So we get down there and this band is playing and we find some place to stand on a step next to a guy trying to impress his date(so now into him either) and these dudes that looked like the guys from kings of leon. The band playing was called dead country and the drummer had an odd set up. It was one tom but set up on a stand with a bunch of cymbals...like a million cymbals! the bassist had a news boy cap which automatically made me fall in love and he had an awesome voice but he wasnt the lead. that pisses me off sometimes but then i realize that its also who is willing to do lead cuz the guitarist i play with is much better than me but my personality helps me pull of the lead. but news cap boy was a fellow bassist. the only thing i didnt like was that him and the lead singer/guitarist had their guitars so low and its mostly for show so its not worth it i feel. the other guitarist had an afro so that rocked and he had a lovely telecaster and was pretty awesome. they were pretty good and funny and from LA so yeah. The next band was the jealous sound. the bassist looked like out science teacher so we were cracking up. The drummer had an even weirder set up than the first one. he had a snare instead of a rack tom or something he had a floor tom raised up. not in front of him or raised a little but super high. i dont even get how you play that. the singer/guitarist looked like voldemort and we were freaking out and the guitarist was this asian dude so that was chill too. The guy on the date kept talking about when he saw them perform a bunch of years back and then talked about coheed and cambria. The chick told him that a guy behind us has a shirt that has a pic of knuckles. the knuckles said foie gros and he didnt get it. she deserved someone better. The bands set was over and he tried to explain sunny day to her. i told my dad to listen to him for any questions. my dad just laughed and shook his head at us. while waiting for sunny day i went through my friends pics on her phone. Found one of the only co ed bathroom in our school in the library and rule number one says PLEASE AIM. i feel like thats pretty epic. then i found her pics from a paramore show and made fun of whomever took the picture without realizing the zoom was intense and you can only see hayley williams tongue, my friends jacket, and i think part of jeremy davis. WHen sunny day came on it was crazy. im a huge fan of the rising tide but they never sell it cuz of all that sdre politics of nate leaving and the band being all eh. but still its my favorite and they didnt play anything off of it so i only knew like 4 of the songs. Dans voice sounds sooooo amazing live. Its like the record. We went upstairs cuz we realized that we would hardly know the songs but we still wanted to listen to them play live. I dont think we missed out on much in the audience cuz we were both super tired and the crowd was bobbing their heads cultishly. we talked to the guys from dead country and they were soooo awesome. news boy hat bassist aka patrick or pat became my new bestie. they were all so chill. Nick the singer was nice and funny and apologetic for the other guitarist's, jonny, behavior. he was playing with one of those toys with a dog head on a wooden pole whom they had named mikey on a long van ride over to anaheim. The drummer was kinda just in the back so we didnt converse with him but his loss. Patrick had a lip ring which boosted the band so much higher up on my awesome list. they were selling one dollar cds so i go over and tell nick "i will finally be able to say i could use singles to get something at a concert. i have money from when i bought some ice cream" he asked me what kind i had and i told him it was that tmnt kind with mikey and it had bubble gum eyes. Yeah im that baller...jk. We went back inside to sunny day and got some footage of a new song. then went out again. Of course this whole time we were listening and in awe of how amazing they were but at the hob you can kinda go get drinks and eat and still be at the concert so it worked out. We saw voldemort and talked to him. turns out his name was blair and my friend was dying for it to be spelled super emo like BLAYRE or something but it wasnt. he was surprised that we were sunny day fans at out age. i told him that sunny day fans are hard to find at any age but we're still here. my dad was super tired and we left a few songs before the set ended. Apparently i missed in circles but i was sotired from that whole day i dont think i could have lasted. My fingers are tired and its time for me to get ready for bed. im not goin to retreat for school this week so im hoping you buzznet buddies are updating so i wont be totally bored when i go to work for my dad.--adios y hasta luego
