Sacha Baron Cohen finally filming 'Bruno' movie

Sacha Baron Cohen, known for his roles in Borat and Da Ali G Show, has begun filming a Bruno movie, Defamer reports. Witnesses reportedly spotted the actor in Southern California dressed as the character and asking parents how much pain they'd be willing to put their kids through in order to be in a commercial.

The sighting of Cohen dressed as Bruno according to Defamer:
  • I saw Sacha Baron Cohen doing filming as Bruno (gay Austrian) at On Your Marks Studio in Sherman Oaks on Feb. 21st. He was dressed in tight leather black pants with a bedazzeled g-string showing. his hair was frosted blond and straight. He was interviewing parents with their children pretending to be an german / austrian ad agent looking for a child to do a car commercial. He asked questions like : are you willing to film your child with ants? bees or wasps? dogs? ect. very funny.
There's no denying the cultural impact that Borat had on moviegoers. It was a surprise success at the box office, especially considering that most people outside the UK were completely unaware of Da Ali G Show, which is where Borat (and Bruno) originated. After the success of both Borat and Sweeney Todd, Cohen's popularity has forbid him from ever playing the characters of Borat and Ali G ever again. (Part of the allure of his style of comedy is the element of surprise and convincing strangers to believe he is actually a real person.)

The character of Bruno, however, was the smallest part of Da Ali G Show, so it's nice to know he'll be bringing the character back for a full-length movie.

How do you feel about a Bruno movie? Do you think it'll be anywhere near as funny or successful as Borat?

Sacha Baron Cohen is in my view, amazing. I loved him as Borat and Ali G - He's going to make this into a good movie as Bruno! I really can't wait for this.
I mean, considering how big Borat was - inside and outside of the UK was amazing, considering most of them didn't even know what the Ali G Show was - it's going to make this even more popular.

I love Bruno. The episode where he goes to the Alabama gun show and actually feared for his life was hilarious. I wanted a Bruno movie before Borat and look how Borat turned out.

I think it's great how Sacha Baron Cohen reinvents his alter egos, and doesn't milk the popular ones for all they're worth. He's gotten a lot of flak over Borat, but you know what? It's gotten people's attention to the issues, and that's a good thing. A very good thing. A lot of people automatically think, Oh, he's anti-semitic. Um, he's jewish. :) Makes me laugh, because they know nothing about what they're actually watching.
Guy's basically a genius. And a genuine artist. In my opinion, anyway. XD

Me too. Have you seen the deleted scene where he goes to the fortune teller and asks him if Gucci (or some other designer, I can't remember his name) can see him from the afterlife? And if he likes what he's wearing? Amazing, and kinda sad, because he exposes the guy as a total fraud.

No, I have not. And now I want to. :) It seems characteristic of his...characters. That's sort of what he's all about, in a roundabout way; exposing the more fraudulent and fake aspects of society. [Or I'm reading too into things. haha.] I mean, he's smart enough to know that stupidity is the only way to get across the vast majority of people who could care less about what's going on. He's like those flintstones vitamins- he's good for you subconciously, while making for exceedingly entertaining viewing.
