My Chemical Romance to Cover Famous Folk Singer for Movie Soundtrack

Although it might be some time until we hear a new album from My Chemical Romance, the band is in talks to record a song for the soundtrack of the 2009 superhero flick "The Watchmen" ... and it might be a cover.

"[Frontman Way] is a super-great guy, and an awesome musician, and so we're trying to work with them right now to put together possibly a song for the end titles," "Watchmen" director Zack Snyder told MTV News. Snyder is leaning towards a Bob Dylan cover for the band, stating: "[They'll perform] like a cover of 'Desolation Row,' or something like that. I've talked with him and I've heard a little bit of some stuff that's he's done [covering Dylan] ... and it's pretty freaking cool."

Snyder went on to discuss his first initial interaction with Way, explaining: "Honestly, he contacted me, just as a fan. [He wanted] to say like: 'I hope the movie's cool,' and then we went, 'Hey, maybe we can do something.' So it's worked out pretty cool." My Chemical Romance will be the only modern day rock band on the soundtrack, the rest dating back before 1985, the year in which "Watchmen" is set.

In 2006, My Chemical Romance's "To the End" was featured on the "Underworld: Evolution" soundtrack. Speaking of movies, rumor has it that Way's popular comic book, The Umbrella Academy, may become a movie in the near future.

Are you excited for a Bob Dylan cover from MCR? Do you think they could pull it off? What song, from any artist, do you wish the band would cover?

They played Desolation Row a few times live during their last tour, and it was AMAZING.
My write up on this went up two hours before yours and contains the embedded videos.

Thanks for stepping on my toes.

It would be really cool if they covered a song by The Smiths.

Hmm.. as much as I love MCR, I don't know if picking them to do a Bob Dylan cover is probably the best choice. It just doesn't seem right to me, just like MCR singing Stevie Wonder songs just doesn't seem right. And I love Bob and Stevie way more!! (I love MCR too :P) Oh well.

Covering The Smiths would be better for them :)
Meh

I think that whatever project or song Mr. Way choses in doing will be a success. I've seen MCR live and it was such a treat to see a band that sounds just as good live (or better) than their cd. The covers that MCR have done in the past, to me always sounds great and I love their creativity and their willingness to do things differently. I wish more bands were like them!
It would be really cool if they covered a song by The Smiths.
