5 Videos Where All The World's A Stage

"All the world's a stage,"
- Jaques, As you Like It by Shakespeare

Theatre. Where performance truly got it's start, and yet how we forget the humble beginnings of what turned into the peoples main source of entertainment. Well, not truly forgot. Below are five videos that assimilated traditional theater means for their videos, and totally rock more because of it.

The Avalanches - Frontier Psychiatrist
Definitely ranks up there as one the most well controlled chaos videos out there. Fun fact: much of the samples are from the John Waters film, Polyester.

Moulin Rouge - Lady Marmalade
Somehow seeing four pop/R&B starlettes dressed as prostitutes doesn't surprise me, but... is Missy Elliot their pimp, or something?

Bjork - Bachelorette
One of the more ingenious collaberations between Bjork and director Michel Gondry. Try and count just how many ways this becomes a story within a story within a story-- it's in more ways than you think.

Tegan And Sara - Back In Your Head
One of the few videos that almost makes individuality seem like a bad thing!

Laura Marling - My Manic & I
A haunting song, a haunting tale, yet beautiful in it's unfolding.

Did I miss any other great videos? Have a favorite video with a great theme? Comment or message me, and they just might show up on a list down the line!

PS: The 5 A Week Music Video series is officially back on, after way too long of a downtime. Every weekend, expect more!

you know, you should start a series a la "vh1's 40 most cheesy video cliches"
good selections! way better than, say, Bryan Adams' "Heaven" (cheesy 80s power ballad version)

All great choices. I love the "Bachelorette" video!
And the Avalanches video makes me think of Daft Punk's "Around the World" (with every sound represented by a character). Whatever happened to those guys?

I love Laura Marling! Have you watched her video for "Ghosts"?

All great curtains, I gotta get more into Tegan & Sara
Missy Elliot is everyone's pimp.

Cola: Oh god, there's so maaaany! I'll take them one at a time ^_^

Shapeshifter: That was a terrible video, thank you, lol.

Kitten: I dunno, but whenever I look up anything with the word 'punk' in it (which, mind, is all I ever do on google) they're ALWAYS top of the list, no matter what! But that one video is amazing-- Michel Gondry video, I think.

ScarletLark: I haven't, yet. I so will, though.

Trustno1: Tegan & Sara totally rock, check out their other stuff!

Newage: That explains why she always comes to my place demanding money...

I love Tegan and Sara, however, seeing this video has caused me to view people in black ski masks in a new (scary) light.
this is bad, because in the cold Maine winters, black ski masks are quite abundant.

Great selection! This one immediately came to mind for me:

Janet Jackson - If

Annie: Ha, sorry to help give you winter time nightmares! ^_^;

August: I LOVE those guys! And that video is actually the one that inspired the whole list, haha, I love it so much.

Parla: That video actually works great for a list I've been working on, thanks!

Crash: You gotta love Janet Jackson videos, if for nothing else their production quality.
