Are Tokio Hotel Big Fakers?
Hey, all you Tokio Hotel fan girls who rag on Ashlee Simpson for her SNL debacle! Guess what? Looks like you might have some explaining to do. Because Tokio Hotel's live show might not be as "live" as you think.

Reportedly, Tokio Hotel lead singer Bill Kaulitz doesn't sing live on American dates. In fact, there's apparently notes on the sound team's set list that tells them to turn the microphone back on in between sets, so Bill can talk to the audience. So, his banter is all live, but his vocals are prerecorded.
Oh, and reportedly? The instrumental tracks are all prerecorded as well. That would mean that Tokio Hotel mimes playing on stage, as they would for a music video. So the only real thing fans would hear on stage would be Bill's voice between sets.
Please note that this doesn't imply that the band doesn't play their music in studio. And in no way does it mean they're pulling a Milli Vanilli. It would just mean that they do the same thing a lot of pop artists, including Britney Spears, do for concerts: in order to ensure they put on the best musical show for the audience, they use a pre-recorded track. Whether that's right or wrong is entirely another story.
Grain of salt: this information is a Perez Hilton exclusive, so it could be taken out of context or even completely fake.
But if it is true, would that change how you feel about Tokio Hotel? Would it change how you feel about other artists who have been caught lip synching to vocal tracks during live performances? Please note: this DOESN'T include Milli Vanilli. There's a difference between lip synching to someone else's voices and lip synching live to your own studio recording.

I agree, maybe in German they are live, but English? Not so much, guy can barely speak in English let alone sing...
Duude. I dislike fakes. The pre-recording Bill's voice makes sense because of the whole vocal-surgery thing and the lingual barrier...
But yeah, pre-recording the INSTRUMENTS?!
That's bogus! Really, if they've gotten this far, obviously they can play. Also, I'd like to point out that'd it be pretty easy to notice if the drummer isn't drumming.
This news REALLY bothers me. I think I'm going to check out some live shows.
Even though Tokio Hotel sounds great on CD, I will lose ALL respect for the band if they can't play a live show!! >:o
The last 3 'gigs' they did here. Playback, most if not all of it.
Their concerts?
LIVE.
And if you've never been to one of their concerts you really wouldn't know if it were playback or not. Suggesting that he would do playback because his English is bad (and it really isn't that bad) is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. He recorded a whole damn album in English, but he's SO scared of a few concerts. Not so much, it's his job.
They have always played their American concerts LIVE and there is no question about that. And we can play the Perez game and show pictures of setlists to prove it, since that seems to be a definite deciding factor now.
I don't know why they did it, I don't like that they did it, but it's irritating, the amount of stupid going around. I'm very VERY glad you addressed that Milli Vanilli was an entirely different issue all together, as people seem to not be able to comprehend that.
This is one of the better articles about the situation that I've read so far.
Go ahead... go see them. My user name is the same on youtube as it is here! I tried to post this to Perez yesterday, but I guess he didn't want anyone proving him wrong. haha.
As for the Milli Vanilli thing, I get pissed off because people seem to assume that since it happened once, it would be incredibly easy to slip that sort of thing by the higher ups in the music industry today. LOL NO. They take care to make sure something that embarrassing doesn't happen again.
I just find it interesting, that a blogger like you is seeing it for what it is (Perez blowing things out of proportion) yet the media is hanging onto his every word as though he's some great scholar.
I find a problem with that. :/
At least you're being honest and fair about things. I've had a testy day, lol, so it made me happy to see this.
and chances are this is not 100% true
but if it was dosent mean the bad dosent have good music
and if that is the way they want to go about stage preformances
then go ahead tokio hotel
Maybe because, I don't know, it's not called a unicorn in German? O_o
Do you know what a Drache is? It's not like Unicorn is one of those words used in everyday conversation. Well, not in theirs. I can't speak for my own. :P
And I actually find that quite amusing. XD
But seeing as how Bill has yet to sing about Unicorns, I think I can let him slide on that one. ^___^
