Current Obsessions 6 and Point System!
Hey guys! Thanks for all the feedback on the clothing line. Each day this week, I'll try and post a picture of something from the line.
It seems like the majority of you want to participate in the point system. Points sound boring, so I'm just going to call them cookies because well everyone loves cookies. Whenever I post a journal, picture, video, poll, etc, the first 3 people who comment/buzz it, will get a cookie. And you can't just say "FIRST! Buzz! etc" Actually say what you feel about whatever I post- whether you like it or not. When you get to 20 cookies (Is that good? Too high? Too low? Just perfect?), you'll get a free shirt. Would you want it to be a suprise or would you rather pick the shirt you want?
Anyway, I hope you liked The Audition, The Morning Light, Kate Voegele, The Lives of Famous Men, and Tyler Brown Williams. Here are the rest of my obsessions for September. :D
1. Steve Moakler

Pittsburgh native, Steve Moakler, has released 2 EPs. The Weight of Words (2007) for $4.95 and Like I Mean It (2008) for $2.97. In March, Moakler released his first full length, "All The Faint Lights". My favorite songs are "So Soon", "Run", "All The Faint Lights", and "Hesistate". Every single song from the EP and full length are worth buying. Listen to his music and fall in love with his soft voice and sweet melodies. Each song has catch lyrics that tell a story about where he's been and where he's going. He will be the next John Mayer. I'm dead serious when I say that too.
2. MGMT

Formerly known as The Management, Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden had to shorten it to MGMT because another artist was using the name The Management. MGMT has been working on their new album, Congratulations, which should be released in early 2010. Goldwasser and VanWyngarden recently collaborated with rapper, Kid Cudi, in the song Pursuit of Happiness from Man on the Moon: The End of Day. Listening to each song of Oracular Spectacular makes me relaxed. Check out Electric Feel, Kids, The Youth, The Handshake, or Weekend Wars. In October, MGMT will be playing at the Treasure Island Music Festival with with Brazilian Girls, The Streets, Passion Pit, Girl Talk (another Pittsburgh native. wooo!), and many more.
3. The Goodnight Anthem

Pop/rock band from Philadelphia, The Goodnight Anthem, has had their songs played on MTV shows like Next and Parental Control. Last Summer, they released Nights to Know You EP, which you can buy $3.99. Each week, The Goodnight Anthem will be covering a song. So far, they've covered Party In The USA, I'll Be, and Waking up In Vegas. So if you have a myspace, head on over to theirs and tell them what you think they should cover. Before TGA releases their new CD, they we will be putting out a B-side EP with songs that they wrote after recording and songs that couldn't make it on the new CD. Each EP will be personally signed and have your name on the front. Keep checking their Myspace and Twitter for more details.
4. Sing It Loud

Signed to Epitaph Records (New Found Glory, Bring Me The Horirzon, You Me At Six, The Higher, Set Your Goals), Sing It Loud, a pop-rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota has toured with This Providence, The Morning Light, Cobra Starship, Cash Cash, Forever The Sickest Kids, and many more.Their full length, Come Around, (2008) features Justin Pierre of Motion City Soundtrack in "We're Not Afraid" and Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low in "No One Can Touch Us". I love every SIL song. I guarantee that if you haven't heard of them until now, if you look up any song by them, you'll have it on repeat for a while. I highly suggest you watch their Meet The Band videos. They're HILARIOUS. This fall/winter they will be touring with Forever The Sickest Kids, The Rocket Summer, My Favorite Highway, and other bands on select dates. I have met these guys and they are seriously the funniest, sweetest, craziest guys I have ever met. So if they are coming to your city, buy your tickets NOW. It's going to sell out fast.
5. Between The Trees

"One tree represents where time and existence begins. The other is the end of everything. Between them is the time we're given on Earth. What matters is what we do with that time." -Ryan Kirkland
Now, it doesn't get any simpler than that, does it? In 2006, they released their first debut album, The Story and the Song. Check out "The Way She Feels", "White Lines and Red Lights", and "Words". A year later, they were signed to The Universal motwon/Universal Republic. There were some problems and BTT decided their next album would be self-released. Listen to "We Can Try", "Spain", " Miss You", "Story of a Boy", and "Changed By You".
I hope you like the bands. The first 3 to comment/buzz this gets a cookie. GO! (:
peacee,
