Mark Romanek quits 'The Wolf Man'
Some sad news in the directing world:
Mark Romanek has decided to part ways with the only horror-remake that looked decent.
The Wolf Man, which currently stars
Benicio del Toro and
Anthony Hopkins (!!!!), is now without a director. Who could possibly take over the reigns?
Seriously, if someone can nab both Benicio del Toro and Anthony Hopkins for a remake, you know you've got something special. But this is the same guy who directed Nine Inch Nail's 'Closer' and directed One Hour Photo, one of the only films that Robin Williams is tolerable in. (Plus, it's MEGA creepy. Go watch it.)
Anyway, Romanek hasn't made a film since then and, while I've never seen The Wolf Man, I was anticipating another movie from him. But due to "creative differences" and the fact that he couldn't get a larger budget,
Romanek has walked away from the project.
Bummer.
Ain't It Cool News has a source saying that the two other directors Universal is considering are Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) and Breck Eisner (who hasn't done anything that notable yet). To be honest, I don't really know anything about this movie, so I don't really know who'd be better. Discuss if you do know!
