Backstreet Boys' A.J. McLean Goes Solo
Backstreet Boys' bad boy A.J. McLean has decided to make the move to go solo. The pop star recently announced two concerts in California, performing without any of his previous bandmates. He is also planning shows in Europe and will be releasing an album later on this year.
A.J. is the third member of the infamous boy band to go solo but has no plans to follow ex-bandmate Kevin Richardson and quit the band. A statement from A.J.'s manager reads, "After 13 years with the Backstreet Boys and 75 million records sold worldwide, A.J.'s excited to take a step out on his own and present his music, in his style."
The two shows announced will be on Sunday, March 23rd at House of Blues in Anaheim and Monday, March 24th at The Roxy in West Hollywood.

What do you think A.J.'s musical style will be?

It's hard to say what his style might be, I'm going with a hip hop flavor.

But thats my opinion take it or leave it
I have not spoken to any of the band, with the exception of Howie, for several years but do know that Alex is still recording under Johnny No Name (one track on the last BSB album was recorded under that guise).
I would have to disagree with the comment about the smooth moves moving. All of the BSB are recording artists and artists need to change style and apperance after time. Alex has always been interested in a more harder genre of music and this would be a good time to release something along those lines. No artist can stay the same forever. If you look at the top performers who have been around for the last 20 or so years (U2, RHCP etc) they all transcend the look and sound they were playing back in the early 90's
Of all the 'Boy bands' still around I feel the BSB will always have a worlwide audience, the sound has changed and so has the appearance and maturity.
I am no fan, I just had an opportunity to work with them and found five very grounded and mature guys who were nothing short of polite.
I wish Alex the best with these two gigs.
I don't see anything special and anything to be remebered in his singing.
I think that, you should be a very bright & unforgettable person to make people think of you not only like ex-BSB singer (as Justin Timberlake, for example). But if he wants to do perfom alone - that's his decision.
