Ashlee Simpson on The Tonight Show - 4/21/2008

Alright, I know a lot of people don't care for Ashlee Simpson for so many dumb reasons I can't even begin to comprehend and that's all fine and good. It's your choice to be childish, immature, and catty...unless you just don't care for her style of music and such...then, that's all you. Either way, this is not a journal about bashing people who bash her.

Last night, she performed her song, "Little Miss Obsessive" on the Tonight Show. I didn't know she had a performance last night so I almost missed it. However, during a commercial break and my routine channel surf to hold my attention captive until my preferred show returns I went flipping through and caught the whole performance. Well, I freaking loved it.

First off, I'm not a dress wearing kinda gal. I don't knock people who do wear them...they're just not for me...or maybe my legs just aren't for them...whatever! Either way, the dress she was wearing last night with those knee high black socks and combat boots to...well, boot...was so unbelievably adorable I almost forgot to pay attention to her singing...which was really good, actually.

All in all, I thought the fact that she messed up a few times made her performance so much better. Her voice was too quiet in a few places and she missed a few notes...which made it perfect. It was proof that she was actually singing for those of you who still say she can't actually sing. Now, I can understand if her vocal stylings just aren't for you...honestly, I never imagined they be for me...but if you just don't like her musically, that's all fine and dandy. But seriously!? Please stop acting like the girl doesn't have a voice. Because for everything her sister is, Ashlee is the exact opposite. She's got such a harsh, rocker chick voice that it just makes my little heart go pitter-patter when I hear her screaming her lungs out...hitting pitch or not. She gives it her all and did so last night and I, for one, appreciate that from anyone.

In closing, I loved her outfit, I loved her appearance, I loved her energy, I loved her. She was great last night and I can't wait to see her next performance!

Hell..she's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. I thought it made her real. A lot real then some musicians. She's going to be on Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday.
