An Inconvenient Truth

An Inconvenient Truth

addendum to pre show

OK - so I saw the movie and this is what I think...
I'm all for informing people about what the issues are and clearly global warming/ environmental degredation in general is a top - maybe THE top issue of the day. But - if your claim is purely that you want to reach out to people to educate then here is my suggestion: keep partisan politics out of yer message.
The facts presented were basically true as far as I understand to date but the delivery was more like campaign propaganda; a lot of topical depth was sacrificed for political posturing.
I guess I was naive to have thought that it would be otherwise...

That said - it did make me wonder what would have happened had the US' attention been drawn strongly toward environmental issues had the popularly elected candidate actually been elected to the presidency in 2000. Boo to the electoral college system.

wasnt the electoral college system developed to provide an early count of the election process in the early stages of the american democracy? if so, then it is no longer relevant and should be removed or revamped as a system in the election processes.

partisan politics somehow delays the real solution to the issues of global warming. you are right to say that it should be kept out as it only muddles and oversimplifies the concerns.

i dread the day we cannot enjoy photos such as this as the only survivor to the catastrophe is man...but even that will have to end sooner than the real and true purpose for which we were created.

BOO to GOP thugs & trickery preventing people from actually voting! & now we have Diebold computer voting to worry about! eeek!!!

the only silver linings of al gore's "loss" in 2000: it freed him up to be less beholden to militarism & a suicidal mideast policy (he's a fairly strong critic of the iraq war for a while now)... & it kept leiberman from gaining "credibility" becoming the heir apparent...

nice post! btw... have you ever seen the corporation?
i think that it is an absolutely brilliant documentary.

nice sunset.

Al is a pretty smart guy. But politics is politics. To our general detriment.

thanks yorrick - that is a important message

goodude I do not know the specific origins of the current voting system... I will have to look into it and thanks so much for your words - you said to me once that I encouraged you to strive for your best and your words have the same affect on me.. and "true purpose for which we were created" - can't say as I have a clear vision on that myself, but I like the attitude - amen, brother.

fpt have not seen the doc. will have to check it out and so good to always be able to find a silver lining, eventually...

well put, seawall.

thanks septra and tuck! "gawjess" love that.
