Swallowing the Ocean - Chapter Eighteen

Chapter Eighteen: He Bit My Lip and Drank My War From Years Before

Jade gently held Kay's trembling form, his heart pumping with both joy and panic. He wanted to sit there in the rain forever and savor her scent and her arms around his waist, yet he was horrified at the bloody wound on her forehead, and his ears were filled with Kay's sobs.

"Kay, who did this to you?" he asked, stroking Kay's hair. A wild thought came to his mind - what if Gerard...?

There was a long silence. "Gerard... I found another woman's underwear in his pillowcase."

Jade's hackles rose in fury. "And he hit you?" How dare he?

"Yes," choked Kay.

Jade clutched Kay even tighter, rage building in his chest. At that moment he wanted nothing more than to run up to that apartment and wring Gerard's neck. I'll kill him.

He didn't realize he'd spoken the thought aloud until Kay replied tremulously, "Don't say that."

"I'm sorry." Jade resumed stroking her hair. One of his fingertips came away scarlet, and he remembered Kay's head wound.

"We need to patch your head up. Come back to my place, I can put some stuff on it."

Kay stiffened in his arms. "I... I have to go back soon."

"No, Kay, you're in no state to go back." Heat rose from Jade's veins again. He'd die a thousand deaths to keep Kay from returning to Gerard. "He hit you, he drew blood..."

"I approached him the wrong way, we had a misunderstanding..."

"What misunderstanding is there when you know the truth?"

Kay burst into tears again. "Oh God..."

"Kay... Kay, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you!" Jade tried frantically to calm her. "It's alright, it's alright... I'm so sorry." He knew he was pushing her too far.

"At least let me take care of that cut," he pleaded gently when Kay had quieted. "Please, Kay." Kay was silent for a few long moments. Then she nodded wordlessly.

Jade helped Kay to her feet and let her lean on him. Slowly, they made their way across the park to Jade's car. Jade supported Kay as she got into the passenger seat, then got into the driver's seat and started the car. As he drove, Jade slid sideways looks at Kay, who seemed to shrink in the seat, her head bowed and her eyes red from crying. He wanted to say something to comfort her further, but was afraid of upsetting her already fragile state of mind. Therefore, he was relieved when the painfully silent drive ended and they got out in the drive of his house.

Jade led Kay into the kitchen and sat her down in a chair. She sat still as death, her eyes staring into nothing, as he rummaged through the cabinet where he kept his band aids and antiseptics while he was off-tour. He ran a towel under hot water, turned and put it to the injured side of Kay's forehead. She winced, then relaxed as Jade put a hand over the opposite side of Kay's head, calming her. She sat still, her eyes closed, while he gently cleaned the cut, rubbed antiseptic over it and bandaged it.

He held her head for a few more moments. "Are you alright?" he asked tenderly. Kay slowly nodded.

"Can I get you anything? I have some herbal tea."

"Okay. Thanks, Jade." Kay sat in silence as Jade made tea. She tentatively took the warm mug he handed to her.

"Drink it, you'll feel better," he coaxed her. As she obediently brought the mug to her lips, Jade noted how hollow her eyes were. Sitting beside her, he put an arm around her and rubbed her shoulder.

"Thank you Jade," she whispered hoarsely.

"It's alright," he answered, not knowing what else to say. They sat in silence, as she drank the tea and he continued to gently rub her shoulder. We could sit like this forever, he thought. Jade could feel her thin shoulder and the strap of her bra through the thin layers of her jacket and shirt. If I could just keep her here. He knew his thoughts and actions were out of line, but there were prevailing circumstances... and it wasn't like she was stopping him.

"Have you eaten?" he asked gently. She nodded.

"We ate before we went to see Chris in the hospital."

"Oh yeah, Davey told us he woke up. That's wonderful."

"Yeah..." Kay looked down into her tea. "I can't stay for long," she said suddenly. "Gerard will be looking for me..."

"But Kay!" No, I can't let her go! "You don't have to go back, and you shouldn't. He hurt you..."

"He didn't mean to," Kay protested weakly. "Anyway, he's leaving tomorrow on the Projekt Revolution tour tomorrow, we won't see each other for a while, and I don't want us to part on this note."

"Kay..." Jade bowed his head, thinking of what to say. "Kay, do you want to go back now? Do you really, really want to go back?" Kay looked away.

"No," she finally answered. "Not now."

"Stay here until you've cleared your head. You're in no shape to go back to Gerard as is," Jade pleaded, slightly relieved. Kay nodded slowly. "What's more, you look exhausted. Do you want to get a little sleep?"

"Well... sure. Could I take your couch?"

"You know, I can let you have my bed. I can take the couch for tonight."

"Are you sure...?"

"Of course. Just for the night. Please, Kay, I want you to."

"Oh... alright."

Gently, Jade led Kay to his bedroom. He pulled out a T-shirt and pajama pants and handed them to her. "Here... these might be a bit big for you, but I think they're fine."

"Thanks... are you sure you don't mind me taking your bed?"

"No, no, really Kay. It's the least I can do for a friend." Inwardly he cringed at the use of the word "friend," remembering his confession to her a couple months ago. Speaking of which, did she remember that as well...? But Kay showed no sign of remembering, and took the pajamas.

"Well, I'll leave you alone now. Get some rest." He smiled at her and turned to the door.

"Thanks, Jade. Good night."

As Jade headed downstairs, he heard the bedroom door close. He shivered slightly at the thought of Kay undressing and slipping into his clothes right above his head. He shook his head, pulled out a blanket from behind one of his couch cushions, lay down on the couch and spread the cover over himself.

So what now? Kay was in his house. He'd always dreamed of having her in his house. But what was going to happen in the morning? Would she stay? Would she leave? Was it even right for him to even contemplate making her stay?

Oh, he was over thinking this. They'd talk about it in the morning, when they'd both had some rest. With that thought, Jade rolled onto his side and fell into a shallow, fitful sleep.

-------------

It was still dark when Kay cracked one eye open. The digital clock on the dresser read 4:30 a.m. In the window, there was a touch of gold at the bottom of the navy-blue morning sky. She closed her eyes and tried to sleep again, but couldn't. Damn, I've toured too much. Stupid 4:00 wake-up calls.

As she nestled under the warm covers, she remembered where she was: Jade's house. Her hazy mind slowly unwound the events of last night. She winced slightly as she remembered Gerard's blow to her face. The physical pain was nowhere near to the pain in her heart. He was her fiancé, her lover, and he'd struck her just like that. No doubt he was probably sorry... but how could he? What's more, he was cheating on her. Again. What would she have done if Jade hadn't found her in the park?

Oh yes, Jade. Kay hadn't brought it up last night, but she remembered full well his confession to her at the hospital. She'd avoided looking him directly in the eye, for whenever she did, she saw in his gaze the same hurt and lost puppy who'd declared his love for her. His feelings hadn't changed, that much was clear.

That being said, why was she still here? Why was she mooching off a guy who wasn't her fiancé?

He's my friend. I can't discard him just like that. After all, he's always been loyal.

Loyalty. That was what Kay wanted in any friend, any lover. And that was what Jade had. When she was in need, Jade had thrown everything aside to help her. Last night, he hadn't taken advantage of her vulnerability. He'd bandaged her cut, given her a drink and a place to stay. If they ever really did get together, Kay had no doubt that his loyalty would remain just as unconditional.

If we got together. Would she want that? Did she want to be with Jade? Would he be worth it? Would he mean anything next to the years she'd given to Gerard?

As if in answer to her thoughts, the door creaked open in the far corner of the room. Kay quickly jammed her eyes shut and pretended to sleep. She heard Jade's light tread on the carpeted floor towards the bed. The hairs on her arms stood up. What was he doing...?

But she felt the side of the bed dip slightly as he sat down. Out of one eye, she saw him gaze at her and look away. She heard her name whispered under his breath. And then nothing more. He just sat there, staring into space.

After a minute, Kay decided to drop the act. Slowly, she sat up. "Jade? Is something wrong?" she called out softly.

Jade jumped and turned to face her, looking slightly guilty. "Oh... no... I, uh... wanted to see how you were doing. Sorry."

"No, that's fine. I'm good. Couldn't you sleep? It's a little early."

"Well, not really." A pause. "H-How's your head?"

"Oh, I think it's better. It doesn't sting anymore." Kay brought a hand to her forehead. "Thank you, Jade."

"No problem."

They sat in silence. Then Kay leaned forward. "Jade... you told me once about Gerard, and... do you know who she is?"

Jade swallowed and nodded. "She... she's Lyn-Z. From Mindless Self-Indulgence."

"Lyn-Z." It all made sense now. "L."

"What?"

"Those emails I found in Gerard's inbox. They were all signed with an 'L'... It all fits." She sighed and hung her head. "How did you know?"

"I was driving away from your hospital, and I saw him... with her. Then I was in the FYE buying your Saosin album, and I recognized her on the Projekt Rev banner."

"Projekt Rev??" Kay felt as if she'd been kicked in the stomach. "So he's touring with her! Oh God, Jade, I've been blind!"

"I'm very sorry, Kay, I..."

"No, I've been terrible to you! I said horrid things to you the last time we talked... I... Christ..." She dropped her head into her hands.

"He's your fiancé, Kay, I really don't blame you."

"But you're my friend, one of my best friends... I'm so stupid..."

"Please don't be like that, Kay. Really, I understand. I just... I hated seeing you being cheated, because I l - " He faltered and turned away, but Kay knew where he was going.

"Jade..." She reached out to him.

"Yeah, well, I didn't want to see you hurt, that's all... yeah." Jade tried unsuccessfully to shake the awkwardness of the moment off.

Kay sighed. "That's not exactly how you put it when we last spoke."

A pause. "Why are you bringing that up?" Jade's voice was tight and pained.

"I... I don't know. Did you mean it?" She needed to confirm it and hear him say it.

Jade faced her again, a line of tears forming in his eyes. "How can you ask me that? Why would I tell you a lie if it would only make you hate me?"

"I don't hate you, Jade!"

"I know, but you did when I told you."

"No, I didn't hate you because of that! I was angry because of what you said about Gerard! But you were right! You were right about everything... it's just that, we're engaged."

"So why are you bringing this up? It doesn't matter anyhow, you're getting married, your love life won't involve me!"

"Then why did you tell me at the hospital?"

"You asked me what was wrong with me, and I gave you an answer, because it's all true! I love you, I can't help it. I would feel otherwise if I could but I can't. You don't know how it's tortured me to see you with a man who does these things to you! If I were in Gerard's place, I would never do what he did last night! I would never have cheated for so long behind your back! I would do anything to make you happy!" Jade's eyes were bright and intent on Kay, but when he finished speaking he seemed to droop, exhausted from this release.

"But it's no use. You're engaged, you love him, and if you're still happy with him, I'll be happy for you."

Kay watched him, and her heart bled. "Jade... you know I hate watching you hurt. Now I know you... love me..." she struggled with the word, "and I'll know you're not happy. I'll know that when you smile at me, you're lying to me."

"Then just be with me." The words spilled out of Jade's mouth without a thought. "If you hate watching me hurt, then be with me." His eyes were wide and pleading.

Kay knew she could shatter him with a word at this moment. She knew she should reject him, and she knew he expected it... but she couldn't. In her heart she knew she could never refuse him. At that moment, looking into his eyes, she knew that no matter how she denied it, she wanted this. She wanted Jade.

Her thoughts stopped right there as their lips bumped together. They both gasped at the same time, but neither drew away. She felt Jade's lips move tentatively against hers, and she did the same. They pressed their mouths closer together, and Kay felt Jade's hand clutch her arm and heat rising from between their legs. Her free hand reached up to cup his cheek as they exchanged kiss after tender kiss. Jade whimpered at the touch of Kay's smooth palm. His hand slid under the hem of her shirt, gently stroking the skin of her torso. She whimpered against his lips and her hand traveled from his face to grab the hem of his shirt.

Kay was so absorbed in their heated kisses that she barely noticed Jade had pulled her shirt off until he began to run his hands over her breasts. She inhaled sharply and tugged wildly at his shirt, running her fingers across his skin and the lean muscles underneath. Jade drew away momentarily to pull off his shirt before gently but firmly pushing Kay back onto the bed. He pulled away the covers to slip her pajama bottoms down her white thighs and over the beige bandage wrapped tightly around her calf. Jade briefly ran his hand over the injured leg, then bent over her to ravage her neck while he reached down to unfasten his jeans.

"C-condom," Kay gasped out as Jade kicked away his pants and gnawed at her neck. Without pausing in his advances, he reached over into the drawer of the nightstand and felt around for the abandoned stack of condoms he'd placed there long ago. His trembling fingers fished out one packet, and he drew back briefly to tear it open and hastily roll the latex over himself. Minding her injury, he reached down to spread her legs and placed himself between them. As he positioned himself over her, he cupped her face between his palms.

"K-Kay... are you sure you want this?" he asked, breathing heavily and propping himself on his elbows.

Kay stared up at him incredulously through her heated delirium. "Now? You're asking me now??" She reached up and grabbed fistfuls of his hair. "Finish what you've started, fool, before we deal with what I want!" She pulled him down and bit his lip.

The pain did it for Jade. He dove into Kay, and began ramming into her with abandon. Kay cried out and arched her back, for she had not felt this way for a long time. No one had made love to her with such passion in ages. Everything she saw, felt and heard was Jade. She felt her good leg wind itself around his smooth, slender waist, her nails digging into his shoulders as his mouth devoured her neck, her skin rubbing against his as he filled her hot, latent body with his flesh over and over. She was in awe of the arch of his spine, his lean and muscular arms straining to support the rest of him. At the edges of her consciousness, she heard the bedsprings groaning softly beneath them and the headboard gently thumping the wall behind her head. A few minutes later when they both climaxed, screaming each other's names, Kay felt wetness on his cheek. As they lay there panting, their bodies still connected, Kay looked to the side and saw that Jade's eyes were closed, trails of tears leaking from under the lids.

"Jade? What's wrong?" She brushed her fingers against his wet cheek.

"I... I love you Kay," he sobbed. "I'm so in love with you... I love you too much..."

"Shh... shhh..." She gently kissed away the wet trails. "Don't cry, Jade, don't cry."

When Jade had calmed down, he slowly pulled out of her, tugged off the condom and threw it into the waste bin by the bed. He crawled back into Kay's arms and reclined against her body, burying his face in her neck. Kay gently stroked his hair, and soon he fell fast asleep. Tired as she was as well, she lay awake for a half hour or so thinking about what had just passed. As content and loved as she felt at this moment, she knew that she was running into another complication.

Yes! They finally got together! But remember, Kay is still "officially" with Gerard...

Guilty by Association

Before I even knew there was a conspiracy going on, I was a part of it…

It was fall of 2007, and my cousin busted into my room, breathing heavily, a look of panic on his weary face…He told me to come quickly, that he needed my help.  He led me out to an old abandoned house out in the woods behind my house that, quite frankly, I never knew existed before.

Something here didn’t feel right.  He then turned to me and told me in a panicked tone that he had found a body.

Neither one of us had anything to do with this; however, neither one of us had an alibi, either.  We carefully took the body inside and hid it under some loose floorboards, thinking that was the safest way to go.

As we turned to leave, we saw a figure appear in the window of the house.  She gave him a look filled with what can only be described as hatred that said if not for the confines of physics, she would rip his head off.

I turned to him, knowing the truth before it was even spoken.  I nodded hesitanly, giving him a nonverbal promise that this would be our secret…

~A FIRE INSIDE; 11/19/09 ♥

11.19.09

So that was quite possibly one of the best nights of my life. If not the BEST. I went absolutely insane. Words can't explain how amazing it felt to see these boys live. They've been one of my ultimate favourite bands for years and I had never seen them live up until now. I was actually beginning to think I would never see them live, for some reason. See, I'm a pessimist and never think I'll see my favourite bands live. Although I've seen many of them live. But still.

Enough with my ramblings. Onto the actual details of the night;

My Mum took my sister and  to Orlando specifically to go to the AFI concert. We live about two hours and a half away so I went to school and then left early. We wanted to get there with enough time to eat and whatnot. Let me just say this; Orlando traffic sucks testes. Big ones. It got on my nerves. But we got there with enough time to get to the hotel, which was only around four minutes away from The House of Blues, and settled down.

We ate... and blah, blah, blah.

So anyway, we got to the venue at around 6:15-ish and walked around to see a HUGE line. I hate standing around in long lines so my impatience was already getting to me and I hadn't even set foot in the line yet. :/

Once we got to the back of the line, it seemed like a long time before it actually started moving. More and more people were arriving and going to the back of the line so I took comfort in knowing I wasn't the very last person. At least.^^

The line finally started picking up pace and we got to the front by the time the doors opened. I believe they opened at 7:00. Around that time. So they scanned us in the front with this metal detecting device. Cameras aren't allowed at that venue. Lame, I know. I really wanted to sneak one in. Maybe next time. :) We decided against getting merch right away, since we saw a mass of people already accumulating on the floor. I didn't want to be in the back so I managed to slide my way to the right side of the stage. Pretty close. I stood on this step and my sister stood behind me haha. It felt like we waited a long time before the first band actually got on stage to play. GALLOWS was supposed to play before AFI, but stupid House of Blues has them banned. Due to violent lyrical content and the fact they love to start massive circle pits and play in the middle of them. Insane. I would have liked to see them. Oh well. Instead this band played. I totally forgot their name. I think it started with 'Tides'. The lead singer's voice reminded me of a combination of Craigery Owens (ex Chiodos) and Cove Reber of Saosin. He was alright. They performed at least three songs with him singing and then Jonny Craig of Emarosa came on stage and took over the lead vocals. Pretty neat and mellow. And wow, there was this couple who apparently had too much to drink. Well the girl, at least. The guy was sustaining her so she wouldn't fall. She kept swaying like crazy and rubbed these people's heads. Hahaaa. Then security took them out of the crowd. I swear, that guy must have put something in her drink. He seemed perfectly fine whereas she was wasted...

But I came there SPECIFICALLY for A Fire Inside so I was getting impatient haha.^^

Alrighty.

So they finished their set with Jonny Craig and my anticipation grew and grew and grew.

Ah, I was ecstatic.

The lights kept dimming progressively and a bunch of fumes started pumping out of these machines. Forgot what they're called, but you get the idea. I saw Smith Puget, Jade's brother, AKA AFI's tour manager... ahhh. He was setting up and grabbed thgis large bouqet of white, gold and black balloons and set them on the left corner of the stage. I love Smith, he's so hilarious. :D

So yeah, after about thirty minutes of waiting, the lights completely dimmed and Adam came out and took a seat in his drum set. AHHHHH. I started screaming haha. Then Hunter came out.... ahhhh again. Then Jade Came out.... omg haha. And they started playing the intro to TORCH SONG. <3

Then guess who came out... ?

DAVEY!!!!

I think I completely lost it at that point. Gosh so dreamy haha.

Let me give you what I remember of their set list;

*In no particular order;

TORCH SONG

GIRLS NOT GREY

BEAUTIFUL THIEVES

DEATH OF SEASONS

END TRANSMISSION

MISS MURDER

KILL CAUSTIC

THE MISSING FRAME

THE LEAVING SONG PART 2

THE LEAVING SONG

ON THE ARROW

DANCING THROUGH SUNDAY

LOVE IS A MANY SPLENDORED THING

LOVE LIKE WINTER

TOO SHY TO SCREAM

VERONICA SAWYER SMOKES

MEDICATE

SILVER AND COLD

... and two which I cannot remember. :)

Loved the set list, however; THEY PERFORMED NO SONGS FROM THE ART OF DROWNING! W.T.F ?!

The Art of Drowning is pretty much my favourite AFI record ever. So I was waiting for them to perform some songs from it. Kind of disappointed me, I must say. But amazing, nonetheless.

So throughout their whole peformance, the energy was incredible. I thought for some reason they would have a little less energy than earlier times, but NO. They are so energetic on stage. It's insane. Just like I pictured them to be. I don't know if any of you own or have seen the AFI live DVD; I Heard a Voice from 2006. Live in orange county. But... theyir movements were SO similar to that DVD. EVERYTHING! Like when they performed Death of Seasons, towards the very end, when Havok goes on screaming. He got up on the speakers and knelt down, screaming his heart out. And then dropped the microphone and the lights totally went dark. Like the DVD. So emotive and beautiful.

Also, Hunter, Davey, and Jade were just moving so much all throughout the stage. Running around and doing their little spin kicks and whatnot. Davey started out wearing this gold blazer jacket and took it off after Torch Song and gosh he looked so cute. True, he's very skinny right now. Skinnier than Decemberunderground era. But he still looks so good. Though he does need to build some muscle again. Gosh I love that little guy.

Of course as always, there was some chemistry between Davey and Jade. I laughed a couple of time because Havok is SO dramatic on stage. He like, acts out the songs. He almost cries. And he spasms and it looks so funny and cute. Awww. (:

They performed The Leaving Song and On the Arrow on after the other. And during On the Arrow, Adman stood up front and played a shaker. He's so amazing. Sounded so beautiful. <3

At one point when it was completely quiet, Davey was wiping himself off with a towel and some random guy yells out; "DAVEY!!!" It sounded hilarious. He just nodded haha. I think that same guy yelled out, "THE DAYS OF THE PHOENIX!" At another point. Which I cannot believe they didn't perfrom that song. Ah. :C Maybe next time.

They left the stage after a certain amount of songs, acting as if were over. But we knew it wasn't. So everybody started chanting, "THROUGH OUR BLEEDING, WE ARE ONE!" (Strength Through Wounding), and they obviously came back and performed a few more songs. They ended with Silver and Cold. Totally didn't expect them to perform that one. I kind of forgot it existed lmao. But it sounded so pretty, ah.

Throughout the whole show, everyone was singing like crazy, myself included. DUH. It was just an amazing time. ♥

Just know that it was so amazing... they're so great live. Too great.

Some songs I would have loved them to perform include;

THIS TIME IMPERFECT, 6 TO 8, EVER AND A DAY, THE GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT, THE DESPAIR FACTOR, DREAM OF WAKING, OF GREETINGS AND GOODBYES, 37 MM, ENDLESSLY, SHE SAID, SUMMER SHUDDER, A SINGLE SECOND, THE DAYS OF THE PHOENIX, MISERIA CANTARE.... just a lot more.

I'm an AFI freak, yeahhh.

It was an amazing night. So amazing. Would have loved to meet them. Maybe next time. Because there WILL be a next time. :)

I hope they do warped tour. Ahhh.

I also want to wish Mr. Havok a happy 34th birthday. It was yesterday. Awww. :)

Now the only bands I'm absolutely dying to see are PLACEBO and MUSE! I'd die.

Until the next time...

JADE, ADAM, DAVEY, HUNTER.

You guys are the best.

Watch Stars Go Out Tonight..//Lesson 9: Sisters Are [Usually] Always There When You Need Them

First, just to be on the safe side, i pulled out a pair of plain blue jeans and an orange and white striped three-quarter-length shirt. I pulled my shirt off over my head without a second thought and put on the new outfit carefully, trying not to mess up anything. Then laughed out loud at myself. Seriously? Like Jade had told me earlier, i looked like crap-what was i worried about messing up?

"Heyy, Destiny, can you grab the black stilettos in the corner?" i asked as i stripped down to my underwear. The three boys were facing the other way, squirming and looking highly uncomfortable. Jade and Davey had discovered my incredible stack of fashion magazines, ranging from Seventeen to Vogue and Glamour. Had to keep up with this stuff, you know.

"Sure" Destiny said, and she went into the corner i had indicated. A second later i heard her go, "Holy freaking shit, October"

   "What??" I asked, turning.

"There's only like a MILLION BLACK STILETTOS OVER HERE!!!" she yelled, looking half in awe and half terrified of my enormous shoe collection.

"Ohh," i began, "yeahh. Well. Uhm. The ones with the tiny star rhinestones on the straps."

"OHMIGOSH they're so cute! Heyy, what size do you-no way! Oh, gosh, can i borrow your shoes sometime?? Please? These are so amazing! Here, sorry, i got a little carried away," She laughed as she chucked them at me. The silver inside flashed at me as they made an arc onto the carpet at my feet.

"So, what time exactly is your, well, modeling-thingy?" Jade randomly piped up as he flipped past a topless Calvin Klein girl modeling her fine ass in sleek jeans. Her name was Kelsey, actually. We'd started off together in the same modeling shoot. Livid Thorn Clothing. Amazing designs, they had. I'd always been jealous of Kelsey's ass, i'm not gonna lie.

"It's at-" i began, looking at my Hello Kitty watch, "OHHHHHHH in eight minutes. SHIT!"

i hastily strapped up the stilettos and stepped back, examining myself in the mirror.

"STARRY!" i yelled. She appeared almost instantly, and i had a sneaking suspicion that she'd been watching Davey from outside my half-closed door.

"You shrieked?" Starry smiled pleasently. I resisted the urge to smack her.

"Yeahh-heyy. Can you possibly do something with...this?" i asked, making a sweeping motion around my face and hair with my hands. She pretended to think about it for a moment, looking all serious, until i snapped, "STARFIELD."

"Don't call me that. It's such the embarassing name, darling." She said with a French accent. My eyes nearly bugged out of my head as she started in on my hair with a fine-toothed comb.

"Where on earth did you decide to start talking like that?" I asked, having strangled visions of her in the future--going to the Ice Cold, a local coffee shop, and ordering in a French accent. 'i'll just sip an expresso, my dear. Bonjour'.--

"God's sake, Tober. I didn't. It was just a one-time thing, alright?" she said in an exasperated tone.

"Oh." I said. Relief washed over me. "How's school?" i asked out of boredom as she teased the hell out of my hair.

"Great, thanks for asking. There's a kid named Alyssa who taunts me and mocks me every morning."

   "Alyssa? Who's she?"

"It's a guy." Starry said. I looked up at her reflection in the mirror in front of me and her lips were curving up at the ends.

"Aaaannnnddd his name is Alyssa?" I asked. Not to be, you know, judgemental or anything.

"Yeap. Great, right?" she grinned. I snickered.

   "Oh, totally." i said.

"Alyssa Montague?" Davey asked from his lounging position on my floor.

"Yeahh. You know him?" Starry asked, pausing with her hand on my hair. I bounced up and down a little, reminding her that Time Was Of The Essence, and she started in again, my hair already looking so much better.

"Of course. His mom is my mom's best friend." Davey responded, a slow smile curving around his lips. It was rather amazing how even in such a weird place like my room, where Davey looked like he didn't fit in-didn't belong against the backdrop of my walls-he still managed to look sensuous. It kind of annoyed me, in all honesty.

"Ooh....do you know anything that can help me get him back?" Starry asked as she finished with my hair-combed and teased to perfection-and hairsprayed it slightly, then started on my face.

"Depends. What is it he mocks you about?" Davey asked.

"My modeling. My hair. My clothes. My eyes. My pencils." she replied.

"Your pencils?" Smith asked, joining in the conversation. Jade was still flipping through the magazine, pausing at an advertisement i'd shot for Doc Martens. They'd loved that shot-"Full of energy. You love the camera", the photographer had said-and apparently Jade did as well, since after a surreptitious glance around to make sure no one was looking, he quietly ripped it out, folded it, and shoved it in his pocket. Destiny was still surrounded by my shoes, trying on different combinations. She currently had on one black knee-hi Converse All-Star and one purple stiletto, and was looking rather awe-struck by my massive collection.

"My pencils." Starry almost laughed, i could hear the laughter bubbling up behind her attempt to keep a normal voice.

"Hm...well, if it's any help, in third grade, he got his pencils taken away by the teacher for wetting his pants.

"No!" Starry gasped. I laughed out loud, then. I couldn't help it. She was such the drama queen! I checked my watch again. Four minutes. I stood up and grabbed my purse.

"Time to go." i announced, and fled.

***************************************

was this a shitty chapter? Probably, yes...but i've had writers' block lately, and at least i cranked out something....Well, anywayyz. Just a warning, the chapters are going to be getting shorter, i think, based on the little block of time i have on Buzznet these days. Does this suck major turtle ass? Yes. But at least i'm back. I've missed you guys, my fanfic readers-whoever you are. If i even have any fans left...after leaving y'all for like 8 months. :P I'm truly really deeply sorry about that, by the way. I've just had so much going on--heartbreak, hate, love....it's all there. I'm half-convinced i should write a soap-opera-style-book based on my life. That would really sell out, I'm sure of it. I mean, like, my dog is snoring right now. SNORING. my DOG. What is this world coming to?!!! Anywayyz. I 've missed you, like i said. And happy reading. Cuz this time, i really swear i mean it-i'm back. XXmarzXX

New album, new video, new tour... our boys are back and members of Buzznet's AFI community is filling the site with their photos, videos and journals about the band.

AFI News: AFI Announces New Tour Dates & Contest

On the heels of the release of their new album, Crash Love, perennial rockers AFI have announced a new string of tour dates, taking them throughout the West in January. Also, wrap your head around the new contest Buzznet is sponsoring...AFIles Contest

AFI will be using a Canon G10 camera to document their tour. It's a total mystery what the band will be taking pictures of. At the end of their tour, they are going to go through all the entries in this group and 1 person will win AFI's camera with all the unrevealed pictures they are taking on tour. You can enter the contest or view/vote on entries here.
