album review for the week of October 20th - 29th 2009

This Week:
“Want” - 3OH!3

1. “Tapp”
-Quite a waste of a song spot if I may say so myself.

2. “PunkBitch”
-beginning sounds like it could be either a ringtone or stripper music.
-music is great, lyrics are great.

3. “Don’t Trust Me”
     - Quite catchy to be honest.
     - Very good, but highly overrated.

4. “Chokechain”
-Lyrics are amazing, although quite simple.
-I’m not a fan of the vocals, though.

5. “I’m not your Boyfriend, Baby”
     - I love how they don’t start off this song with just music, but actually begin it with vocalization.

6. “I Can’t Do It Alone”
     - Not one of my favorites, but its still pretty good
     - I can’t say that I like the music, but I like the lyrics and the vocals.
     - I do wish that it would’ve been a little faster.

7. “Starstrukk”
     - one of my absolute favorites on this album
     - I love the music, love the lyrics, love the vocals.
     - It’s a sexy dance song. What else do you need?

8. “Richman”
     - Love the music, love the lyrics, love the vocals, would’ve been better faster, though.

9. “Photofinnish
     - I don’t like the vocals, especially in the very beginning and the part around 0:42
-I love the lyrics and the music, but it would’ve been better faster.

10. “Still Around
     - Not something that would be expected from 3OH!3, but not a bad song.
     - The vocals and the lyrical content is good.
     - The music is great, especially the piano

11. “Holler Till You Pass Out”
-Very, very fierce, but not in the fashion sense of the term. More in the belligerent sense of the term.
-love the music and the lyrics.
-the vocals match the music and the lyrics very well
     -wouldve been better faster, though.

12. “Colorado Sunshine”
     - Im not very fond of the music
     - Lyrics are very simply written, but it works for this song.
     - good tempo, good vocals.

Overall, it’s a very good album. I do think certain songs could be better, but nothing’s perfect. It’s a lot better than their first album[or was it an EP?]

October 15, 2009

tattoos and a switchblade attitude, snakebite heart and a bubblegum smile.

she's so lost in the stereo. out of control, so beautiful.

i've got chipped nail polish, hair back off my face, in a hoodie six sizes too big and sore feet. just had a well deserved hot bubble bath and twenty minutes of peace and quiet. time to unwind and be still and calm. its only ten-thirty and i'm exhausted. usually i'm up easily till three in the morning. these past weeks have been chaotic. but i like the change of pace, i'm just trying to keep up. i'm waking to alarms. driving all over town. running errands. work. play. its all the same these days. and the noise isn't leaving, this is only the begining.

monday night i went out to see my friends hugh and kog play at harba. kimi, edd, kelly and i all came out in the freezing weather to support them. really yummy olive bread with balsamic and mocktails. i seem to always be driving these days.

tuesday i spent all day at uni. had lots to organise. did a three hour online induction for work and returned what seemed like a million emails. lots of uni work and assignments. i'm finally getting myself organised. wednesday morning i ran errands and picked up my new work uniform. all before nine am. home for a few hours. lots of tea, then off to melbourne by three to set up the function room at the vic uni city campus for the CD launch- Potential Unlimited. as it turned out we couldn't do anything till about 4:30 so i sat around with adam, renata and danica. finally got into things. the night turned out really good. everyone had a good time. there were a few speeches then a couple of the bands from the album performed. lots of free drinks. poured about sixteen bottles of wine. love being bar bitch.

bec and emma came along. to support me and for free drinks haha. its funny how friends bring out your personality, and between us, we have a lot of it. slow dancing behind the bar and flicking bottle caps at unsuspecting victims. it was really fun. the music was a mix which i like. too much of the same loses my attention quickly. i'm spontaneous, i make rash decisions. i like walking the fine line. deadlines are challenges i thrive on. easily distracted by new things, bold things- they excite me. its all a rush. i live for the rush. if i was ever to be a junkie, i'm glad my poison is my passion. i could do worse. i have done worse. but thats life, its not always pretty sweetheart.

the event finsished around ten. bec and i did photobooth outside flinders street station. love it. free bottles of wine and vegetarian tartlets on the train to elstenwick. drove home in the rain. its my favorite weather. its soothing. got home around eleven and fell asleep on my bed, only to wake up again at eight to shower and get changed for uni. a glass of orange juice and i was back out the door.

had marketing with quinn and peter. new facebook friends ahaha and more work on assignments. ahhh. one more week to go before i've got exams. so many things coming up! tomorrow i finally have a day at home, maybe a sleep in. but loads of work to get done before my busy weekend begins.

this weekend i've got my induction at the oakleigh store, then saturday night i'm going to the 3OH!3 show and the after party at Bang! nightclub. i'm so pumped for it. i need a night out to drink, dance and get myself into a little mischief. its been too long for my liking. but its been a freezing cold winter, so i've spent more time at house parties and indoors. okay. so maybe i've had a fair few adventure haha. but just wait till summer. its the season of love, fun and a little bit of trouble for good measure. sunday is my second day of induction. it'll be interesting to see how i pull up the next morning. hrmmm.

next week loads more. tuesday first official day of work after a morning at uni. next saturday is Hugh's birthday dinner. a little aprehensive about it as a guy i hooked up with a few months back will be there. it'll be the first time i've seen him since. a bit awkward. sigh. weekend after that friday night is holmy's pre-halloween part and then saturday night the MASSIVE anual halloween fest at Bec's back house. last year involved, a jessica blow up sex doll, an fan forced fat suit, a giant oogie boogie, barbie and hundreds of glow sticks. and this year is going to be bigger, bolder and more outrageous. but my lips are sealed on the details. but let me tell you, we never do things half way. can't wait.

found out yesterday placebo have signed on to second round of soundwave. amazing. so excited. the line up just keeps getting better.

i'm off to sleep and take a moment to myself. loving the album 'nothing personal' all time low have put out. its got some really catchy songs. like it.

much love. cheers to the weekend.

x

I mean it's 7th Grade (if I pass this I'm on to my final grade, 8th), I just really hope I do well and achieve atleast a B, I've got my fingers crossed. ___________________________________________________________________________

I really want to go see Short Stack but piano is the main priority at the moment, it's too early to go the city anyway and I could always watch it at home instead of squishing with other fans, (it's school holidays they'll all be there). Plus I have a last minute piano lesson... better stay at home and practice some more. As the common phrase and one of Cute Is What We Aim For's song, "Practice Makes Perfect."

That's all for now, thankyou for reading!

PS. If you haven't seen, 'The Maine Wanted' video, please check it out if you have time. It's about getting
The Maine to come tour Australia :)

What a way to start the fall

Hello!! Well how many of you knew the summer end, i think, Monday around 2:08?? Well I did! And guess what happened?? I GOT SICK! So, I've pretty much been in bed since Tuesday. And now, my grandma's cooking with onions. Damn onions. I hate onions. Anywhore, I've been so..... I don't even know, like, musically confused. I keep bouncing from Cobra Starship to Beyonce to 3OH!3 to Kid Cudi! You know what? I LOVE IT!! I could do this all day. I truly, truly could. Is that strange?

In other news, I started reading again. And my aunt Magali (Hi tia), gave me a super sweet book! It's called "L.A. Candy" & Lauren Conrad wrote it & no it's not a autobiography, it's an actual novel. But if your not into those book with semi-realistic settings then this is the NOT the book for you, on the hand if you like these kind of books, then when your don with this book read "The Perks Of Being A Wall-flower" by Stephen Chbosky. It's really good. Kinda like an episode of Degrassi or anything else that's dramatic! (x

I just realized that I've been sitting next to a filthy curtin for the past 15 minutes (yes it took me 15 minutes to write all that down because I'm cleaning out my closet!) & that's what's been making me cough! Well, I'm off for some tea & soup. I can't wait until I'm better! (x
