What You Should Know
What Made Milwaukee Famous haven't hit the big time just yet – and they're not even from Milwaukee! – but gigs opening for the Smashing Pumpkins in late 2007 sure didn't hurt. The indie-rockers also got a boost when they play on Austin City Limits as one of the only unsigned acts to perform on the TV show, which is filmed in their Texas hometown. WMMF are riding on some strong indie cred, as they've issued their two albums – 2006's Trying to Never Catch Up and 2008's What Doesn't Kill Us – on the Death Cab for Cutie-affiliated Barsuk Records. The group counts among its ranks singer/guitarist Michael Kingcaid, bassist John Farmer, drummer Jeremy Bruch and keyboardist Drew Patrizi.
