Slightly Stoopid Detained at Canada/U.S. Border Over Marijuana PosessionMusicians pass through the Canada/U.S. border every day and occasionally have their van/bus searched for drugs, but what happens when you actually get caught? Slightly Stoopid learned the answer to that question the hard way.
![]() "Border patrol agents detained us for seven hours with about seven to eight agents of wasted taxpayers' manpower," singer Miles Doughty revealed to Celeb Stoner (*Yes this is a real site*)."They were threatening us with intent to sell and distribute marijuana even though all they actually found was about a half ounce. And this was after they tore our whole bus apart and then made my guys put everything back together." (Note: The entire fiasco ended with the band having to pay a $3000 fine.) Doughty goes on a tangent about the police system and how poorly they handled the incident, and marijuana related incidents in general ... "This is just another example of glorified security guards using their power the wrong way. I was talking sh** because we're musicians and we smoke marijuana. I don't understand how they could mix that up with drug dealers. I guess they're not fans of music or they'd know that this is what we do. It just amazes me that they would waste this much time for marijuana. Maybe if they taxed it like alcohol and cigarettes, things would be easier, but then they wouldn't be able to waste billions of dollars of taxpayers' money on the supposed 'War on Drugs.' In this country you can do less time in jail for killing than getting busted with recreational drugs." And Doughty ends his rant with the timelss arguement over the dangers of using marijuana ... "I've been smoking weed for 17 years and it's never been a gateway drug or affected my life in a negative way. I will always promote the use of marijuana because I don't see it as something harmful. Alcohol and cigarettes kill people. Who dies from getting blazed? Answer: No one." Now it's time for you to post your thoughts on the issue. C'mon ... be honest. In fact, I'll go first. I've never tried marijuana, even once, but I can say that for a few of my friends it did become a gateway drug because the thrill of being high started to dwindle and they wanted to replace it with something stronger. I think it depends on the individual and their personally (ie: obsessive, addictive).

It's ludicrous for the DEA to claim that the laws controlling each drug is based its potential for harm. If that were really true they'd hand marijuana out in pre-k.
No one has ever died from marijuana in all of recorded history. Marijuana doesn't kill brain cells or cause emphysema, cancer or heart disease. And its addictive qualities are somewhat less than caffeine.
Can anyone answer why we control marijuana with the policy that failed for alcohol rather than with the policy that succeeded? Does marijuana contain some unique characteristic that'll make prohibition work for it while it failed so miserably for alcohol??
Marijuana should be controlled by the *same laws* as alcohol.
What happened to the band is a complete and utter waste of taxpayers' money!
lol wrong. I don't smoke but I don't think it should be illegal and made to be such a big deal and the person is above is correct in the fact that people do not wake up and want coke one day, usually it starts at a club someone fabulous and glam offers it to you. Ew, never touched the stuff. Weed does kill brain cells though, I believe in everything in moderation, just like alcohol. Small doses sometimes, not all the time and not six bowls. If Americans knew how to have some self control maybe everyone would stop making a big deal.
i did my own research and i did not find a single good reason to legalize this nasty shit besides that "taxing it will save the economy" are you fucking serious? do you know what the FDA is? why would anyone think it should be okay to make something HARMFUL readily available? people always argue, oh what about alcohol? what about cigarettes? if we could feasibly make them illegal too, we would. but we can't INTRODUCE a dangerous substance to law-abiding america. that's INSANE. arguing for legalization makes you sound like an idiot and a loser. i don't give a fuck about your gpa or your fucking image. you're going to get lung cancer, and you're going to lose brain cells, and you're going to die. and i'm going to laugh!
the FDA the major pharmacutical manufacturers would be out of buisness, lets
see, VIOXX, FEN-FEN, JUST TO NAME TWO, were given the okey doke by
the FDA, so the makers could recoupe their R & D MONEY. I know for a fact that many people have died as a result of taking these two approved drugs, so take your opinion and regard for the FDA and shove them up your ass. The pursuit of happiness is O.K. as long as it is alchohol or presription drugs, what it all boils down to is MONEY. No more, No less.
There are plenty of studies (by respected universities such as johns hopkins) which have shown that smoking weed does not cause cancer you ignorant fuck.
Why the fuck is alcohol and tobacco legal when the kill thousands of people each year but weed hasnt killed anyone.
