Saosin Ditches Record Producer For a 'Butch' OneSaosin has done the unthinkable ... The SoCal rock band, who has been recording their second full-length with Howard Benson, has recently decided to change producers completely!!!
![]() "Howard ended up wanting things that we didn't want, and we never actually started the process with him," bassist Chris Sorenson revealed to Alternative Addiction. (The article explains that Benson, who produced the band's debut record, was just too busy to dedicate enough time to Saosin.) So who will fill the famous shoes of Mr. Benson (Hawthorne Heights, The All-American Rejects) and [attempt to] successfully produce the band's long-awaited followup to their 2006 debut full-length? ... Butch Walker! "We needed a guy who could lead us in the right direction for the marketable side of it. He knew specific songs by us, where most producers and have just kind of heard the disc. Walker's style was a sharp contrast to Benson's, or any other producer they had worked with before. His whole MO was just shooting off ideas, and we use them or we don't. It was keeping the creative juices flowing," Sorenson explained. I wonder if Walker is a bigger fan of Saosin singer Cove Reber or former singer Anthony Green!! "This record is a little more extreme. The softer songs are a little bit softer and the heavier songs are a little bit heavier, and there is still the stuff that is in between," stated Sorenson. Butch Walker has a history of producing artists of all genres, ranging from Midtown to Avril Lavigne ... and even Katy Perry! Do you think he'll find success once again with Saosin's upcoming record, or should the band have found a way to work around Benson's schedule? Recently, the band released The Grey EP, which you can only purchase at a Saosin show or at Hurley.com. ![]() The Grey EP track list: "Keep Secrets" "Love Maker" "Why Can't You See" "Come Close (Acoustic)" "Love Maker (Acoustic)" Currently, Saosin is out on a six-week tour with Underoath ...
