It's been almost 14 years since MXPX put out On The Cover, a collection of covers that includes a-ha's "Take on Me," and the band is ready to do it all over again.



"Once we are done with this tour is when we are going to start doing that and working on new material. Right when we get done this tour we are going to finish up a covers record we started about a year ago, but that's just kind of a fun thing. Then after that we will start writing and recording a new album ... so probably Januaryish [is when] we will start recording ... So next year," drummer Yuri Ruley revealed in a recent interview with The Punk Site.

Without revealing too much, Ruley gave a sneak peek as to what we can expect from the covers record. "I can tell the theme. I know it sounds like a very overdone theme but it's songs that we kind of love from the 80's. It's not necessarily chart topers from the 80's; well some of them are but not all of them. Should be fun.

MXPX released their eighth full-length, Secret Weapon, in 2007, and recently premiered the music video for "Contention" on Buzznet.
