Members of Glassjaw, Thursday Plan First Show For United Nations

While Glassjaw fans wait patiently for the band to start performing together again, you will have the chance to see singer Daryl Palumbo play with his grindcore supergroup, United Nations, as early as January of 2009.

According to Alternative Press, the band will be sharing the stage with such acts at Anti-Flag and The A.K.A.'s for an event on January 20 (Inauguration Day) at The Black Cat in Washington, D.C. called Demand In D.C.: Applauding The Empowerment Of People Thru Art/Photo/Film/Music.

Other artists will include HorseBites, Charles Stanley, Erik Davidson and Kencredible, with a full schedule to be announced (and hopefully ticket prices $$$) on January 2. Sounds like an incredibly original event at an incredibly small venue ... so make sure that you're alert on the 1/2/09 to find out the full details.

United Nations also features Geoff Rickly of Thursday and, although unconfirmed for legal reasons (like when Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory couldn't admit that he was in Hazen Street), Ben Koller of Converge, Christopher Conger ex-drummer of The Number 12 Looks Like You, Jonah Bayer of The Lovekill and Eric Cooper of Made Out of Babies are all rumored to be members of the band.

The band released their debut self-titled full-length in September of 2008, with a 7'', Never Mind the Bombings, Here's Your Six Figures, to be released before 2009. Meanwhile, Palumbo is working on the third full-length from his powerpop-dance band Head Automatica, with no release date for the new Glassjaw record in sight and Thursday released their split EP with Envy today!

Are you going to attend the United Nations show? Are you a fan of their debut record?
