Locksley Reveals True Tales of the 'Haunted Tour Bus,' and Other Scary Things

After catching up with Locksley I now have the scoop on their new single 'All Over Again' and the details on their plans for Halloween. This Beatles-esque hip shaking leg twisting bunch practically tore down The Troubadour in West Hollywood, CA on 10/20. Their show had their fans screaming and dancing and most certainly wanting more. You want some more?

Buzznet: So you guys are an up and coming band but you've already toured with a lot of amazing artists such as Hanson and The Hives. What band right now would you most love to tour with?

Locksley: Well, we'r going on tour with Ray Davies of The Kinks after Thanksgiving and we'll be backing him up on some of The Kinks hits as well and that's just beyond anything any of us could have imagined.

Buzznet: You made a big move from Wisconsin to New York. What was the biggest change you had to adapt too?

Locksley: We'r e a very talkative, friendly bunch and New York hardens you in a way. Everything is much faster and while i don't necessarily think the rudeness that people associate with New York is accurate, it feels that way because people are just in such a hurry.

Buzznet: You self released your first album, which is an amazing thing. Do you regret not signing to any major labels or are you stoked with the response you've gotten all on your own?

Locksley: Well, it hasn't necessarily been our choice not signing with major labels. As far as I know we've been rejected by just about every single one. What's funny is that the person from the label always says how much they love the band, and while it's obviously lip service a lot of the time, we've seen a number of those label reps out at shows since then, just for fun. So, I think big labels are floundering a bit now and don't exactly know what to do with a band like us. We don't fit right into a current radio format or genre, so it makes it harder for them. As for what we've done on our own, it's certainly surpassed all of our expectations and I think we're all thrilled to see how far we can take it on our own. That said, we would obviously be thrilled with a large partner who really gets what we're trying to do.

Buzznet: You boys have been all over MTV lately! Talk about why you chose 'All Over Again' as your first single.

Locksley:
To be honest, it was because we had a video for us. A friend of ours has a company called Marked Animation and he approached us with the idea for that video and then made the video and so when MTV asked us to do their Artist of the Week that was the video we had ready to go. It's gotten great feedback and I think the song stands our because of the dual lead-vocals which you don't see that often.

Buzznet: So Halloween is coming up. Do you have anything major planned for the holiday?

Locksley: We'll be driving, probably. Candy, I guess? I don't know. Sam says he's going to tun our tour bus into a 'haunted bus'.

Buzznet: One of your songs was featured in the movie Cloverfield. If you could choose any 5, what films would you most want your songs to appear on?

Locksley: Juno, Garden State, The Graduate, Superfly, Hard Days Night-- these all seemed to do wonders for the songs in them.

Buzznet: The Beatles have obviously made a huge impact on your style and music. What else inspires you when you write and create?

Locksley: Well, we have tons more musical influences. We're big music fans. So we're always listening to and looking for new music and rediscovering old music. So the new songs we're working on have a lot of Motown/Stax/Swing/Early Punk, all sorts of things. Also, whatever is going on in our lives. We're, so far, very topical song writers.

Buzznet: If you could reincarnate any dead celebrity to go trick or treating with, who would it be and why?

Locksley: Charlie Chaplin. Think about it. It's funny, right?

Buzznet: Who in the band would be most likely to turn into a vampire?

Locksley: Kai.

Buzznet: Lastly, what is your favorite skittle flavor, and why??

Locksley: We're an equal opportunity band. We like all colors. Sam says that, in fact, when it comes to skittles he doesn't see color.
