Kurt Cobain's Stolen Ashes to be Smoked as Part of Berlin Art ExhibitIn one of the oddest music related stories in recent memory, an Australian artist named Natascha Stellmach plans to smoke the ashes of Kurt Cobain during an upcoming art exhibition.
 Now I am sure the first thing you are wondering is how the heck Stellmach got ahold of Cobain's ashes? According to NME, his ashes were stolen from Courtney Love back in May and although Stellmach did not admit to stealing the ashes herself, she did reveal to Artworld magazine that the ashes "came to me. And I am setting him free." Setting him free!? The second thing on your mind is probably, 'What on Earth is Stellmach talking about?' The exhibition is called Set Me Free and will take place at Berlin's Wagner + Partner gallery. Cobain's ashes will be smoked through a spliff (a joint, also known as a marijuana cigarette) on October 11 and Stellmach explained that its purpose it to 'symobillically "set free" Cobain from the media circus.' Meanwhile, Love (who has yet to speak out against Stellmach's exhibit) is currently searching for both a maid for her home and a PA for her upcoming biopic on Cobain. If the smoking of Cobain's ashes actually ends up happening, do you think Stellmach should be arrested, or is she not responsible because she supposedly did not steal the ashes herself?

smoking a blunt of kurt cobains ashes will by no means "set him free from the media circus". nothing dies in the media (especially if a topic is provoked) because people will always talk. if anything this will only make headlines!
Well, she is in possesion of stolen goods which is a crime, so yes, she should be arrested. Just because they are ashes doen't make it less of a crime.
Now, my opinion on the matter. It's kind of silly to set Kurt free from the media circus by smoking his ashes in the main act, in the spotlight, center ring. Maybe that's the art of this.
I think it would be like, a million times more awesome if the artist shot ashes into their femoral artery like a junkie and rid the world of her genes. Heaven forbid she contaminate the globe with her spawn.
