Green Day, Britney Spears, More Up For 'Best Act Ever' at 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards

The nominees have been announced for the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards and although many of the choices are expected, one nominee in particular will leave you saying WTF



It's hard to vote for the Best Act Ever when the choices are all so well-deserving:

Green Day
U2
Britney Spears
Christina Aguilera
Tokio Hotel (this one may be pushing it a little)
Rick Astley

Wait a second ... Rick Astley? The English singer who became an online sensation this year with his 1987 music video for "Never Gonna Give You Up"having been spread across the Web like wildfire? Is this some sort of joke ... or an attempt by MTV to seem cool and relevant to today's youth?

Who's gonna win in each category??? Who deserves to be nominated that isn't?

Lucky for us, we get to vote on who should be victorious in each category. The 2008 MTV Europe Awards will take place on November 6 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. Peformers have yet to be announced, however, it has been revealed that Perez Hilton will be the ceremony's digital host.

How its possible that really grat bands such as U2 or Green Day are in the same category with Tokio Hotel? I mean U2 and Green Day are super popular, they've been on stage for a really long time and i think they really deserve for being in this category. Its just my opinion: i didnt mean to hurt any fan of Tokio Hotel. I think category "rock out" should win paramore because their music is rlly energetic. "New Act" should win Katy Perry or Jonas Brothers because in short time they became famous, and im not talking only bout U.S. And the last one: "Act of 2008" ....geezz its rlly hard to pick cause all of them worked hard in this year, but i say that this category should win coldplay (even though i dont like their music i think they should win), leona lewis, or rihanna....or Britney.

i agree 100%. how can you compare a band that been around for decade to a band that just started? that's really insane. well all i can say is good luck U2!!

...MTV is so fucking irrelevant, and this list of nominations for pretty much every category shows that. Best Act Ever? You've GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! I love Greenday, I really really do, even in all their awesomeness they aren't the best act ever, the rest of them? U2 is alright, they are the only one on this list that even deserve the title. If the nominations were done via fangirls on the internet....well like I said MTV is just irrelevant!

Jonas Brothers arent new. 30STM should win, and Green Day, and none of the act of 2008. And umm...tokio hotel???no thanks, how are they in the same category as Green Day and U2??

tokio hotel is a brand new band, they sohludnt be anywhere near that catogory. u2 and greenday are the only one sthat i think really diserve to be in that catagory.

paramore sholudnt be int he rock out catagory, they dont even come close to those other bands, the other bands would eat them alive.

new act....well i could pretty much care less about all of them.

act of 2008 i wouldsnt give to britany, a new cd and vids dont count. she pretty much didnt do anything.
