Foxboro Hot Tubs Start Giant Dance Party in Hollywood Los Angeles — Foxboro Hot Tubs put on the show of a lifetime last night for the lucky 300+ spectators who made it into The Roxy in Hollywood.
![]() After an eight hour wait in line for tickets (including many food breaks, bathroom breaks and extreme changes in temperature), the doors finally opened and we were let in a few at a time to avoid being trampled. Girls With Guns was up first at 8:30 to a not-so-receptive audience (Perhaps they don't enjoy all-girl-punk and songs about drinking and the male 'organ.') Mystic Knights of the Cobra followed, at 9:30, with a 40-minute set. The band itself was a sight to see — a guitarist in nothing but his underwear, two female singers in sailor hats, a 'heavyset' shirtless guitar player with a furry vest and around 3-5 other members, including a guy in a Batman suit. At 11pm, Foxboro Hot Tubs hit the stage to an almost sold-out crowd. Perhaps the only downside of a 'secret' band is that not enough people have caught on to the secret two people outside told me that they had only heard of the band a day prior. The band pounded through "Stop, Drop and Roll!!!," "Mother Mary" and "Alligator" — and much like the night before — started inviting people on stage to dance. Unlike the San Diego show, this one seemed a bit more organized — less people dancing on stage and Billie Joe less drunk. As a result, the sound was much tighter. The Tubs pulled out a cover or two on again (The Network, Green Day), before launching into other Foxboro favorites like "Sally," "Broadway" and "27th Ave. Shuffle" — the later of which turned into a huge jam session, with the majority of band members switching instruments (Billie Joe even played the bass!) Billie Joe and Mike Dirnt stage dived throughout the set (although not as much as the night before) and continuously drank and poured beers in the mouths of the audience. The on stage banter was hilarious and I was right in front for the entire set. The band was having a great time and I can only hope that Green Day's next tour is as exciting and interactive. Yet again, I was unable to meet the Foxboro Hot Tubs — however, tonight is the final show of the Stop, Drop and Roll!!! tour at Alex's Bar in Long Beach, CA. The capacity is set at 126 people so the band has nowhere to hide ... dun dun dun..... I was able to get the set list: ![]()
