Radiohead wins big on sales of 'In Rainbows'

"In terms of digital income, we've made more money out of this record than out of all the other Radiohead albums put together,"  says front man Thom Yorke, in a new interview.  The pay-what-you-want model Radiohead used for In Rainbows was under fire recently when a report came out saying almost two thirds of downloaders didn't pay a cent for the new album.

Radiohead disputed the report -- released by internet research firm ComScore -- saying it was "wholly inaccurate," but said little else on the matter.  Until now.

"It wasn't nihilistic, implying that the music's not worth anything at all, it was the total opposite. And people took it as it was meant. Maybe that's just people having a little faith in what we're doing," says Thom.

The band felt it was the best thing to do under the circumstances.  "It was simply a response to a situation. We're out of contract. We have our own studio. We have this new server. What the hell else would we do?"
