Jack's Mannequin Premieres 'The Resolution' Video

It's like Christmas Eve for Jack's Mannequin -- The Glass Passenger comes out tomorrow, but on the eve of that excitement comes the release of the video for "The Resolution."



There has been a ton of buzz about this vid 'round these parts, and not just because we all have a soft spot for Andrew McMahon. The video was directed in part by Twilight author Stephanie Meyer -- who has her fair share of fans and detractors here on Buzznet. Her ocean-stalking-Andrew concept struck a chord with anti-Twilighters who think that Meyer promotes unhealthy relationships in her novels.

The video itself is pretty subtle, though. Picturesque, even. Although the mermaid shots are a little odd, I thought -- with her fins up like that, how can you even tell it's a mermaid? Maybe it's just a petite whale? Aren't mermaids supposed to sit on rocks and play harps or sing? Just sayin'. Her luring tactics could use some polishing.

Ugh the ending was terrible. It made no sense whatsoever in my opinion! A floating sparkly bikini was all it was!
And the whole thing was vague! Traveling the country I get, being followed by the memory of his love I get, but I do not get why it was done like that with a mermaid that only had one shot of her face.
Give my flashbacks! Give me a reason why he was traveling! Something logical!
Someone try and come up with a physiological reason someone wanted a mermaid in this video. Hate to say it but they butchered the song!

I watched the video and looooved it. It's amazing to see what happens with editing because when you watch the "making of" video, you have no idea what's going on. Although the mermaid-girl at the end kind of freaked me out a bit. I think the "ocean stalking" is perfect for JM just because anybody who is a fan of Andrew knows how much he loves the West Coast and how often the ocean is brought in to his music and what not. Meyer did a great job directing the vid!

I was loving it up until the mermaid shot at the end.
I still love the video as a whole because my love for the music and the band overrides the images Stephenie provides, but I will say that the 'mermaid' section of the video could have been done...better or frankly, not at all.
Other then that I thought it was amazing.

i really really really wanted her to prove me wrong and make a decent video for this and she failed so hard. can we be rid of her yet? the mermaid shots were TERRIBLE and though the video was supposed to be about a mermaid stalking andrew you never would have been able to tell unless you'd been told so. if i had known nothing about the concept of the video before hand, this basically would have been the commentary that occurred in my mind: "so he's driving. what the hell is that in the water? sea shells? camping? is that thing a dingy? what is that? eww, dead mermaid? what the shit?"

can we be rid of stephanie meyer yet?

That was a pretty bizarre music video. I liked the whole ocean thing coming after him, I thought that was neat. But I could have done without the whole mermaid thing. That was just too weird.

yeah.i didn't like it.i hated how she turned it into a "relationship" video and how i guess the ocean was a girl or it was the mermaid or something but the song isn't about a relationship with a girl.i dont know much about her but that seems like thats all she really does.bottom line,the video just didn't bring the song to life.

wtf... that was a very.... confusing video to say the least.
I think it would have been way better if they took out all of the mermaid crap and just left it with the ocean stalking him.
Because on Buzznet, we already knew it was going to involve a mermaid stalking him but random people who are just watching the video dont.
If not that, put more actual mermaid shots and not that far away tail fin crap.
but andrew was in it so i cant stay mad. :].

hahahaah i didnt kno the concept of the video and thats exacly what i was thinking...the video was totally wrong but i still love Andrew and Jack's Mannequin :D
