Grab Your White-Boy Afro. It's Time for Hipster News! Not that we don't love obsessively following Pete Wentz's every move, sneeze and ingrown toe-nail, but we thought it'd be cool to diversify the news feed and give a shout out to some of our fave hip-tastic bands making headlines this week.
THE STROKES: Although we heard rumors that 2005's First Impressions Of Earth was going to be the band's last album, apparently The Strokes are giving it another go, According to RollingStone.com, after guitarist Albert Hammond, Jr., finishes producing the new album for The Postelles, he'll reunite with his Strokes brethren and start working on LP 4. "We're getting back together for the first time in two years, and it's very exciting," says [guitarist] Albert [Hammond, Jr.] "We're just going to start working on songs. I mean, sounds -- we don't even have the songs. We got to get back to playing first. That's all I know. Right now, it's just February 11th at 2 o'clock we're going to the studio to hang out and play music. I just know the date and time." ![]() Feel free to grab your pegged Levi's and prepare accordingly. THE HOLD STEADY: In, perhaps, the weirdest tour announcement we've heard since... well... ever... The Hold Steady will be touring with Counting Crows this spring. No, really. Stop laughing. It's true. NME said so. Here are the dates... ![]() 05-10 Glasgow, Scotland - SECC 05-11 Manchester, England - Manchester Evening News Arena 05-13 Birmingham, England - NIA 05-14 London, England - Wembley Arena 05-16 Cardiff, England - Cardiff Arena 05-18 Bournemouth, England - BIC 05-19 Nottingham, England - Royal Centre 05-21 Brixton, England - Academy Sure, it's only in England, but it's still effing weird. What's next? Vampire Weekend opening for Third Eye Blind? Geez. YEAH YEAH YEAHS: Again, this was another band that we totally thought had called it quits—partly because we heard that frontwoman Karen O. and guitarist Nick Zinner couldnt' stand to be in the same room together. Not so. In the years since the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' sophomore record Show Your Bones, the trio managed to work our their supposed interpersonal issues and hook up a new album's worth of songs. ![]() Although no release date has been set, the band says their third full-length should be out in the spring and will be called It's Blitz. The band posted the above picture along with the announcement. Yeah, we have no idea what it means, either.
