Believe it or not, Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl was born in Warren, Ohio, and NOT Seattle, Washington, as many would believe. He's done his hometown proud and they are prepared to honor him in a rare and exciting way.



According to the Cleveland Leader, a local petition, created by police sargeant Joe O'Grady and radio DJ Fast Freddie (93.3 The Wolf) has been passed by city council and a street named Market Alley will soon become Dave Grohl Alley. I wonder if being named after a rock star will increase the property value of the houses.

Grohl will be invited to the dedication ceremony, although further details have not been announced. Who knows ... maybe the Foo Fighters will come out of their recently announced hiatus to perform as part of the celebration.

Having spent just a few years of his life in Warren, Grohl moved to Alexandria, Virginia, where he was a member of Washington D.C. punk band Scream, before heading to Seattle, Washington, to join Nirvana in 1990.

Perhaps being named after a street will become a new trend in 2009. Imagine the possibilities: Panic at the Disco Lane, Fall Out Boy Court, My Chemical Romance Street ... I mean, who wouldn't want to live on Green Day Way or The Academy Is ... Boulevard?

Chris Shiflett of the Foo Fighters recently appeared on DJ Rossstar's Punk Rock Show to promote his own band, Jackson United, and revealed that the band's busy extensive touring schedule was partly due to the fact that he had more free time as a result of the Foo Fighters taking a break.
