Rude Mechs, an ensemble from Austin, TX, made their Dance Theatre Workshop (DTW) debut this past week with The Method Gun. The Approach, (often referred to as “the most dangerous acting technique in the world”) fuses Western acting methods with risk-based rituals to “infuse even the smallest role with sex, death, and violence”. The production reminds me of the film Synecdoche New York; the company re-enacts the final months of their company’s rehearsals for the past nine years of A Streetcar Named Desire.
